Day - 301 - Luke 16-18
Luk 16:1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. Luk 16:1 Now He was also saying to the disciples," There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to him as squandering his possessions.
Luk 16:2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. Luk 16:2 And he called him and said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.
Luk 16:3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. Luk 16:3 The manager said to himself, 'What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.
Luk 16:4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. Luk 16:4 I know what I shall do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.
Luk 16:5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? Luk 16:5 And he summoned each one of his master's debtors, and he began saying to the first, 'How much do you owe my master? ' Luk|16|5|καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος ἕνα ἕκαστον τῶν χρεοφειλετῶν τοῦ κυρίου ἑαυτοῦ ἔλεγεν τῶ πρώτῳ, πόσον ὀφείλεις τῶ κυρίῳ μου;
Luk 16:6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Luk 16:6 And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil. 'And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.
Luk 16:7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. Luk 16:7 Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe? 'And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat. 'He *said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.
Luk 16:8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Luk 16:8 And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.
Luk 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. Luk 16:9 And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings.
Luk 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. Luk 16:10 "He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.
Luk 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? Luk 16:11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? Luk|16|11|εἰ οὗν ἐν τῶ ἀδίκῳ μαμωνᾷ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ἀληθινὸν τίς ὑμῖν πιστεύσει;
Luk 16:12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? Luk 16:12 And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? Luk|16|12|καὶ εἰ ἐν τῶ ἀλλοτρίῳ πιστοὶ οὐκ ἐγένεσθε, τὸ ὑμέτερον τίς ὑμῖν δώσει;
Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."
Luk 16:14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. Luk 16:14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him.
Luk 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. Luk 16:15 And He said to them," You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.
Luk 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. Luk 16:16 "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
Luk 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Luk 16:17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail.
Luk 16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery. Luk 16:18 "Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.
Luk 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: Luk 16:19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day.
Luk 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, Luk 16:20 And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, Luk|16|20|πτωχὸς δέ τις ὀνόματι λάζαρος ἐβέβλητο πρὸς τὸν πυλῶνα αὐτοῦ εἱλκωμένος
Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. Luk 16:21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores.
Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Luk 16:22 Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried.
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luk 16:23 In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luk 16:24 And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.
Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.
Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Luk 16:26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.
Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: Luk 16:27 And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house" Luk|16|27|εἶπεν δέ, ἐρωτῶ σε οὗν, πάτερ, ἵνα πέμψῃς αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ πατρός μου,
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luk 16:28 for I have five brothers"in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Luk 16:29 But Abraham *said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. Luk 16:30 But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luk 16:31 But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.
Luk 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! Luk 17:1 He said to His disciples," It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come!
Luk 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Luk 17:2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. Luk 17:3 Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
Luk 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Luk 17:4 And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent, 'forgive him."
Luk 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. Luk 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord," Increase our faith!"
Luk 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luk 17:6 And the Lord said," If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea'; and it would obey you.
Luk 17:7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? Luk 17:7 "Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come immediately and sit down to eat'?
Luk 17:8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Luk 17:8 But will he not say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and afterward you may eat and drink'? Luk|17|8|ἀλλ᾽ οὐχὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῶ, ἑτοίμασον τί δειπνήσω, καὶ περιζωσάμενος διακόνει μοι ἕως φάγω καὶ πίω, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα φάγεσαι καὶ πίεσαι σύ;
Luk 17:9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. Luk 17:9 He does not thank the slave because he did the things which were commanded, does he? Luk|17|9|μὴ ἔχει χάριν τῶ δούλῳ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τὰ διαταχθέντα;
Luk 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do. Luk 17:10 So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.
Luk 17:11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Luk 17:11 While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
Luk 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: Luk 17:12 As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; Luk|17|12|καὶ εἰσερχομένου αὐτοῦ εἴς τινα κώμην ἀπήντησαν [αὐτῶ] δέκα λεπροὶ ἄνδρες, οἳ ἔστησαν πόρρωθεν,
Luk 17:13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. Luk 17:13 and they raised their voices, saying," Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
Luk 17:14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. Luk 17:14 When He saw them, He said to them," Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed.
Luk 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, Luk 17:15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, Luk|17|15|εἷς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν, ἰδὼν ὅτι ἰάθη, ὑπέστρεψεν μετὰ φωνῆς μεγάλης δοξάζων τὸν θεόν,
Luk 17:16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. Luk 17:16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
Luk 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? Luk 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said," Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine"where are they? Luk|17|17|ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, οὐχὶ οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν; οἱ δὲ ἐννέα ποῦ;
Luk 17:18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. Luk 17:18 Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?" Luk|17|18|οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ὑποστρέψαντες δοῦναι δόξαν τῶ θεῶ εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς οὖτος;
Luk 17:19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luk 17:19 And He said to him," Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."
Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Luk 17:20 Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said," The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; Luk|17|20|ἐπερωτηθεὶς δὲ ὑπὸ τῶν φαρισαίων πότε ἔρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπεν, οὐκ ἔρχεται ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ μετὰ παρατηρήσεως,
Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luk 17:21 nor will they say, 'Look, here it is! 'or, 'There it is! 'For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."
Luk 17:22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. Luk 17:22 And He said to the disciples," The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
Luk 17:23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. Luk 17:23 They will say to you, 'Look there! Look here! 'Do not go away, and do not run after them.
Luk 17:24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. Luk 17:24 For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
Luk 17:25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. Luk 17:25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
Luk 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. Luk 17:26 And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: Luk|17|26|καὶ καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις νῶε, οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου·
Luk 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
