Pastor Rick Crawford's WordByte - 4 April 2020:
THE DECREE to rebuild Jerusalem by Artaxerxes to Nehemiah - March 14, 445 BC - Palm Sunday.
A literal fulfillment of Daniel 9's prophecy about the Messiah being cut off...
the entrance into Jerusalem fulfilled this to the DAY.
the calculations from Daniel 9, fulfilled partially in Nehemiah 2 and Matthew 21:
Dan 9:1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent, who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans"
Dan 9:2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.
Dan 9:24 "Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
Dan 9:25 So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
Dan 9:26 Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
Dan 9:27 And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."
Mat 21:2 saying to them," Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.
Mat 21:3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them, 'and immediately he will send them."
Mat 21:4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
Mat 21:5 "Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Behold your King is coming to you, Gentle, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.'"
Mat 21:6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,
Mat 21:7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats.
Mat 21:8 Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.
Mat 21:9 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting," Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!"
Mat 21:10 When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?"
Mat 21:11 And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee."
Mat 21:12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.
Mat 21:13 And He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer'; but you are making it a robbers' den."
Mat 21:14 And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
Mat 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple," Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant
Mat 21:16 and said to Him, "Do You hear what these children are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself'?"
Mat 21:42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief corner stone; This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes'?
Mat 21:43 Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it.
Mat 21:44 And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust."
Mat 21:45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them.
Mat 21:46 When they sought to seize Him, they feared the people, because they considered Him to be a prophet.
Neh 2:2 So the king said to me, "Why is your face sad though you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of heart." Then I was very much afraid.
Neh 2:3 I said to the king, "Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?"
Neh 2:4 Then the king said to me, "What would you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
Neh 2:5 I said to the king, "If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it."
Neh 2:6 Then the king said to me, the queen sitting beside him, "How long will your journey be, and when will you return?" So it pleased the king to send me, and I gave him a definite time.
Neh 2:7 And I said to the king, "If it please the king, let letters be given me for the governors of the provinces beyond the River, that they may allow me to pass through until I come to Judah,
Neh 2:8 and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress which is by the temple, for the wall of the city and for the house to which I will go." And the king granted them to me because the good hand of my God was on me.
Neh 2:9 Then I came to the governors of the provinces beyond the River and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen.
Neh 2:10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about it, it was very displeasing to them that someone had come to seek the welfare of the sons of Israel.
Neh 2:11 So I came to Jerusalem and was there three days.
