Can anyone tell me how one can tell a 116 vs 123 vs 126 chassis just by looking at it? All I have seen is photographs on the WWW, and when it comes to distinguishing between the three chassis styles in a parking lot, or on the road, I am unable to do so. I gather the 126 is a little larger than the others, but I still can't tell them apart. The 123's I've noticed have two large round headlights and two smaller round foglights. The 126's will have square headlights. This all assumes US versions. Euro versions will have square headlights on all of them as far as I know. later, Larry E. 88 300SEL 79 300SD - ----- Original Message ----- From: Farnes_Quinn To: Sent: Monday, September 27, 1999 12:46 PM Subject: 116 vs. 123 vs. 126 > John, have fun with your new acquisition. They would appear to be the same size, but I seem to remember asking my dad about his '76 300D and whether one would be able to swap those lights into the headlight spot, in a pinch. In addition to the lights being of a different design (sealed vs. bulb-changeable), their diameter is slightly different, I think. To my knowledge, Quinn, there weren't any US (or Euro?) 116s where the fog lights were amber in color, so if you see an old Benz with the round yellow fogs, it's a 123. And though they don't stick out as much as the ones on the 116 do, the bumpers on US 123s aren't exactly understated. :) best, - mjm ______________________________________________ Matthew J.
