I'm an ON-roader, so I wan't on-road perfomance, and handling, along with lightweight and excellent fuel economy. There was a time when "sports car" meant a fun, huckable chassis with a minimal, (often agricultural!) drivetrain. The Horsepower Wars have obliterated that concept and now everyone wants big, heavy, gassers with all-wheel drive and loaded down with gizmos. I think the time is right to go the other way, and Diesel might be the right path to take. - -- - --chuck goolsbee 02 Jetta TDi & 06 Liberty CRD arlington, wa, usa ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2007 19:02:59 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] veggie kits started looking at a variety of kits (supposed to be studying for the final exam, but we all know HOW that goes... ;) looks like lovercraft has a shop in portland, or. hmmm... their kit is listed for '77 to '85... wonder why they don't have one for a '91... also notice they use the main tank... found another kit for about a grand, extra tank... doesn't look like fun to install though... suggested setting up my benz for the veggie oil and my wife vetoed the idea, said I have a old junk truck to do that on... :) maybe she really does like shadowfax. ;) I'm only gathering about 10 to 20 gallons a month right now, but have probably 300 gallons stockpiled... of course some of that might become biodiesel if bruce gets his setup going before curtis gets omega going... it's a race... in the meantime I think I'll take a second job and go buy another vehicle... :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 14:06:00 -0500 From: "Allen Zylstra" Subject: RE: [db] veggie kits www.frybrid.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: john To: diesel-benz list Subject: [db] veggie kits Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2007 19:02:59 -0700 (PDT) >started looking at a variety of kits (supposed to be studying for the >final exam, but we all know HOW that goes... ;) looks like lovercraft >has a shop in portland, or. hmmm... their kit is listed for '77 to '85... >wonder why they don't have one for a '91... also notice they use the main >tank... > >found another kit for about a grand, extra tank... doesn't look like fun to >install though... > >suggested setting up my benz for the veggie oil and my wife vetoed the idea, >said I have a old junk truck to do that on... :) maybe she really does >like shadowfax. ;) > >I'm only gathering about 10 to 20 gallons a month right now, but have >probably 300 gallons stockpiled... of course some of that might become >biodiesel if bruce gets his setup going before curtis gets omega going... > >it's a race... > >in the meantime I think I'll take a second job and go buy another >vehicle... :) > >john > > ----- >---------------------------------------------------------------------- > Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold > http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** i'm making a difference.
