Day - 319 - Acts 10-11
Act 10:1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, Act 10:1 Now there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort, Act|10|1|ἀνὴρ δέ τις ἐν καισαρείᾳ ὀνόματι κορνήλιος, ἑκατοντάρχης ἐκ σπείρης τῆς καλουμένης ἰταλικῆς,
Act 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Act 10:2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually. Act|10|2|εὐσεβὴς καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν θεὸν σὺν παντὶ τῶ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ, ποιῶν ἐλεημοσύνας πολλὰς τῶ λαῶ καὶ δεόμενος τοῦ θεοῦ διὰ παντός,
Act 10:3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. Act 10:3 About the ninth hour of the day he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God who had just come in and said to him," Cornelius!" Act|10|3|εἶδεν ἐν ὁράματι φανερῶς ὡσεὶ περὶ ὥραν ἐνάτην τῆς ἡμέρας ἄγγελον τοῦ θεοῦ εἰσελθόντα πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἰπόντα αὐτῶ, κορνήλιε.
Act 10:4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. Act 10:4 And fixing his gaze on him and being much alarmed, he said," What is it, Lord?" And he said to him," Your prayers and alms have ascended as a memorial before God. Act|10|4|ὁ δὲ ἀτενίσας αὐτῶ καὶ ἔμφοβος γενόμενος εἶπεν, τί ἐστιν, κύριε; εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῶ, αἱ προσευχαί σου καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἀνέβησαν εἰς μνημόσυνον ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ θεοῦ.
Act 10:5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: Act 10:5 Now dispatch some men to Joppa and send for a man named Simon, who is also called Peter; Act|10|5|καὶ νῦν πέμψον ἄνδρας εἰς ἰόππην καὶ μετάπεμψαι σίμωνά τινα ὃς ἐπικαλεῖται πέτρος·
Act 10:6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. Act 10:6 he is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea." Act|10|6|οὖτος ξενίζεται παρά τινι σίμωνι βυρσεῖ, ᾧ ἐστιν οἰκία παρὰ θάλασσαν.
Act 10:7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; Act 10:7 When the angel who was speaking to him had left, he summoned two of his servants and a devout soldier of those who were his personal attendants, Act|10|7|ὡς δὲ ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ λαλῶν αὐτῶ, φωνήσας δύο τῶν οἰκετῶν καὶ στρατιώτην εὐσεβῆ τῶν προσκαρτερούντων αὐτῶ,
Act 10:8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. Act 10:8 and after he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa. Act|10|8|καὶ ἐξηγησάμενος ἅπαντα αὐτοῖς ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν ἰόππην.
Act 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: Act 10:9 On the next day, as they were on their way and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. Act|10|9|τῇ δὲ ἐπαύριον ὁδοιπορούντων ἐκείνων καὶ τῇ πόλει ἐγγιζόντων ἀνέβη πέτρος ἐπὶ τὸ δῶμα προσεύξασθαι περὶ ὥραν ἕκτην.
Act 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, Act 10:10 But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; Act|10|10|ἐγένετο δὲ πρόσπεινος καὶ ἤθελεν γεύσασθαι· παρασκευαζόντων δὲ αὐτῶν ἐγένετο ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἔκστασις,
Act 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Act 10:11 and he *saw the sky opened up, and an object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, Act|10|11|καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν οὐρανὸν ἀνεῳγμένον καὶ καταβαῖνον σκεῦός τι ὡς ὀθόνην μεγάλην τέσσαρσιν ἀρχαῖς καθιέμενον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς,
Act 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. Act 10:12 and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. Act|10|12|ἐν ᾧ ὑπῆρχεν πάντα τὰ τετράποδα καὶ ἑρπετὰ τῆς γῆς καὶ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.
Act 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. Act 10:13 A voice came to him," Get up, Peter, kill and eat!" Act|10|13|καὶ ἐγένετο φωνὴ πρὸς αὐτόν, ἀναστάς, πέτρε, θῦσον καὶ φάγε.
Act 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. Act 10:14 But Peter said," By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." Act|10|14|ὁ δὲ πέτρος εἶπεν, μηδαμῶς, κύριε, ὅτι οὐδέποτε ἔφαγον πᾶν κοινὸν καὶ ἀκάθαρτον.
Act 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Act 10:15 Again a voice came to him a second time," What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy." Act|10|15|καὶ φωνὴ πάλιν ἐκ δευτέρου πρὸς αὐτόν, ἃ ὁ θεὸς ἐκαθάρισεν σὺ μὴ κοίνου.
Act 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. Act 10:16 This happened three times, and immediately the object was taken up into the sky. Act|10|16|τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τρίς, καὶ εὐθὺς ἀνελήμφθη τὸ σκεῦος εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν.
Act 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, Act 10:17 Now while Peter was greatly perplexed in mind as to what the vision which he had seen might be, behold, the men who had been sent by Cornelius, having asked directions for Simon's house, appeared at the gate; Act|10|17|ὡς δὲ ἐν ἑαυτῶ διηπόρει ὁ πέτρος τί ἂν εἴη τὸ ὅραμα ὃ εἶδεν, ἰδοὺ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ἀπεσταλμένοι ὑπὸ τοῦ κορνηλίου διερωτήσαντες τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ σίμωνος ἐπέστησαν ἐπὶ τὸν πυλῶνα,
Act 10:18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. Act 10:18 and calling out, they were asking whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was staying there. Act|10|18|καὶ φωνήσαντες ἐπυνθάνοντο εἰ σίμων ὁ ἐπικαλούμενος πέτρος ἐνθάδε ξενίζεται.
Act 10:19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. Act 10:19 While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him," Behold, three men are looking for you. Act|10|19|τοῦ δὲ πέτρου διενθυμουμένου περὶ τοῦ ὁράματος εἶπεν [αὐτῶ] τὸ πνεῦμα, ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες τρεῖς ζητοῦντές σε·
Act 10:20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. Act 10:20 But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself." Act|10|20|ἀλλὰ ἀναστὰς κατάβηθι καὶ πορεύου σὺν αὐτοῖς μηδὲν διακρινόμενος, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἀπέσταλκα αὐτούς.
Act 10:21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? Act 10:21 Peter went down to the men and said," Behold, I am the one you are looking for; what is the reason for which you have come?" Act|10|21|καταβὰς δὲ πέτρος πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας εἶπεν, ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι ὃν ζητεῖτε· τίς ἡ αἰτία δι᾽ ἣν πάρεστε;
Act 10:22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. Act 10:22 They said," Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you." Act|10|22|οἱ δὲ εἶπαν, κορνήλιος ἑκατοντάρχης, ἀνὴρ δίκαιος καὶ φοβούμενος τὸν θεὸν μαρτυρούμενός τε ὑπὸ ὅλου τοῦ ἔθνους τῶν ἰουδαίων, ἐχρηματίσθη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλου ἁγίου μεταπέμψασθαί σε εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀκοῦσαι ῥήματα παρὰ σοῦ.
Act 10:23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. Act 10:23 So he invited them in and gave them lodging. And on the next day he got up and went away with them, and some of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him. Act|10|23|εἰσκαλεσάμενος οὗν αὐτοὺς ἐξένισεν. τῇ δὲ ἐπαύριον ἀναστὰς ἐξῆλθεν σὺν αὐτοῖς, καί τινες τῶν ἀδελφῶν τῶν ἀπὸ ἰόππης συνῆλθον αὐτῶ.
Act 10:24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends. Act 10:24 On the following day he entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends. Act|10|24|τῇ δὲ ἐπαύριον εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν καισάρειαν· ὁ δὲ κορνήλιος ἦν προσδοκῶν αὐτούς, συγκαλεσάμενος τοὺς συγγενεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἀναγκαίους φίλους.
Act 10:25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. Act 10:25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him. Act|10|25|ὡς δὲ ἐγένετο τοῦ εἰσελθεῖν τὸν πέτρον, συναντήσας αὐτῶ ὁ κορνήλιος πεσὼν ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας προσεκύνησεν.
Act 10:26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. Act 10:26 But Peter raised him up, saying," Stand up; I too am just a man." Act|10|26|ὁ δὲ πέτρος ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν λέγων, ἀνάστηθι· καὶ ἐγὼ αὐτὸς ἄνθρωπός εἰμι.
Act 10:27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. Act 10:27 As he talked with him, he entered and *found many people assembled. Act|10|27|καὶ συνομιλῶν αὐτῶ εἰσῆλθεν, καὶ εὑρίσκει συνεληλυθότας πολλούς,
Act 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Act 10:28 And he said to them," You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a man who is a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit him; and yet God has shown me that I should not call any man unholy or unclean. Act|10|28|ἔφη τε πρὸς αὐτούς, ὑμεῖς ἐπίστασθε ὡς ἀθέμιτόν ἐστιν ἀνδρὶ ἰουδαίῳ κολλᾶσθαι ἢ προσέρχεσθαι ἀλλοφύλῳ· κἀμοὶ ὁ θεὸς ἔδειξεν μηδένα κοινὸν ἢ ἀκάθαρτον λέγειν ἄνθρωπον·
Act 10:29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? Act 10:29 That is why I came without even raising any objection when I was sent for. So I ask for what reason you have sent for me." Act|10|29|διὸ καὶ ἀναντιρρήτως ἦλθον μεταπεμφθείς. πυνθάνομαι οὗν τίνι λόγῳ μετεπέμψασθέ με;
Act 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, Act 10:30 Cornelius said," Four days ago to this hour, I was praying in my house during the ninth hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining garments, Act|10|30|καὶ ὁ κορνήλιος ἔφη, ἀπὸ τετάρτης ἡμέρας μέχρι ταύτης τῆς ὥρας ἤμην τὴν ἐνάτην προσευχόμενος ἐν τῶ οἴκῳ μου, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ ἔστη ἐνώπιόν μου ἐν ἐσθῆτι λαμπρᾷ
Act 10:31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. Act 10:31 and he *said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God. Act|10|31|καὶ φησίν, κορνήλιε, εἰσηκούσθη σου ἡ προσευχὴ καὶ αἱ ἐλεημοσύναι σου ἐμνήσθησαν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ.
Act 10:32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Act 10:32 Therefore send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is also called Peter, to come to you; he is staying at the house of Simon the tanner by the sea. ' Act|10|32|πέμψον οὗν εἰς ἰόππην καὶ μετακάλεσαι σίμωνα ὃς ἐπικαλεῖται πέτρος· οὖτος ξενίζεται ἐν οἰκίᾳ σίμωνος βυρσέως παρὰ θάλασσαν.
Act 10:33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. Act 10:33 So I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord." Act|10|33|ἐξαυτῆς οὗν ἔπεμψα πρὸς σέ, σύ τε καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος. νῦν οὗν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι πάντα τὰ προστεταγμένα σοι ὑπὸ τοῦ κυρίου.
Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Act 10:34 Opening his mouth, Peter said:" I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, Act|10|34|ἀνοίξας δὲ πέτρος τὸ στόμα εἶπεν, ἐπ᾽ ἀληθείας καταλαμβάνομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν προσωπολήμπτης ὁ θεός,
Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Act 10:35 but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him. Act|10|35|ἀλλ᾽ ἐν παντὶ ἔθνει ὁ φοβούμενος αὐτὸν καὶ ἐργαζόμενος δικαιοσύνην δεκτὸς αὐτῶ ἐστιν.
Act 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) Act 10:36 The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ ( He is Lord of all)" Act|10|36|τὸν λόγον [ὃν] ἀπέστειλεν τοῖς υἱοῖς ἰσραὴλ εὐαγγελιζόμενος εἰρήνην διὰ ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ _ οὖτός ἐστιν πάντων κύριος _
Act 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; Act 10:37 you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John proclaimed. Act|10|37|ὑμεῖς οἴδατε, τὸ γενόμενον ῥῆμα καθ᾽ ὅλης τῆς ἰουδαίας, ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τῆς γαλιλαίας μετὰ τὸ βάπτισμα ὃ ἐκήρυξεν ἰωάννης,
Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Act 10:38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Act|10|38|ἰησοῦν τὸν ἀπὸ ναζαρέθ, ὡς ἔχρισεν αὐτὸν ὁ θεὸς πνεύματι ἁγίῳ καὶ δυνάμει, ὃς διῆλθεν εὐεργετῶν καὶ ἰώμενος πάντας τοὺς καταδυναστευομένους ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου, ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ἦν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ.
Act 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Act 10:39 We are witnesses of all the things He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross. Act|10|39|καὶ ἡμεῖς μάρτυρες πάντων ὧν ἐποίησεν ἔν τε τῇ χώρᾳ τῶν ἰουδαίων καὶ [ἐν] ἰερουσαλήμ· ὃν καὶ ἀνεῖλαν κρεμάσαντες ἐπὶ ξύλου.
Act 10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Act 10:40 God raised Him up on the third day and granted that He become visible, Act|10|40|τοῦτον ὁ θεὸς ἤγειρεν [ἐν] τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν ἐμφανῆ γενέσθαι,
Act 10:41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. Act 10:41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead. Act|10|41|οὐ παντὶ τῶ λαῶ ἀλλὰ μάρτυσιν τοῖς προκεχειροτονημένοις ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ, ἡμῖν, οἵτινες συνεφάγομεν καὶ συνεπίομεν αὐτῶ μετὰ τὸ ἀναστῆναι αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν·
Act 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. Act 10:42 And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead. Act|10|42|καὶ παρήγγειλεν ἡμῖν κηρύξαι τῶ λαῶ καὶ διαμαρτύρασθαι ὅτι οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ ὡρισμένος ὑπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ κριτὴς ζώντων καὶ νεκρῶν.
Act 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. Act 10:43 Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins." Act|10|43|τούτῳ πάντες οἱ προφῆται μαρτυροῦσιν, ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν λαβεῖν διὰ τοῦ ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ πάντα τὸν πιστεύοντα εἰς αὐτόν.
Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Act 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. Act|10|44|ἔτι λαλοῦντος τοῦ πέτρου τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐπέπεσεν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντας τὸν λόγον.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 10:45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. Act|10|45|καὶ ἐξέστησαν οἱ ἐκ περιτομῆς πιστοὶ ὅσοι συνῆλθαν τῶ πέτρῳ, ὅτι καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ ἔθνη ἡ δωρεὰ τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος ἐκκέχυται·
Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Act 10:46 For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, Act|10|46|ἤκουον γὰρ αὐτῶν λαλούντων γλώσσαις καὶ μεγαλυνόντων τὸν θεόν. τότε ἀπεκρίθη πέτρος,
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Act 10:47 "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?" Act|10|47|μήτι τὸ ὕδωρ δύναται κωλῦσαί τις τοῦ μὴ βαπτισθῆναι τούτους οἵτινες τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἔλαβον ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς;
Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Act 10:48 And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days. Act|10|48|προσέταξεν δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐν τῶ ὀνόματι ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ βαπτισθῆναι. τότε ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν ἐπιμεῖναι ἡμέρας τινάς.
Act 11:1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. Act 11:1 Now the apostles and the brethren who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. Act|11|1|ἤκουσαν δὲ οἱ ἀπόστολοι καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ οἱ ὄντες κατὰ τὴν ἰουδαίαν ὅτι καὶ τὰ ἔθνη ἐδέξαντο τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ.

Act 11:3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. Act 11:3 saying," You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them." Act|11|3|λέγοντες ὅτι εἰσῆλθες πρὸς ἄνδρας ἀκροβυστίαν ἔχοντας καὶ συνέφαγες αὐτοῖς.
Act 11:4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, Act 11:4 But Peter began speaking and proceeded to explain to them in orderly sequence, saying, Act|11|4|ἀρξάμενος δὲ πέτρος ἐξετίθετο αὐτοῖς καθεξῆς λέγων,
Act 11:5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: Act 11:5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came right down to me, Act|11|5|ἐγὼ ἤμην ἐν πόλει ἰόππῃ προσευχόμενος καὶ εἶδον ἐν ἐκστάσει ὅραμα, καταβαῖνον σκεῦός τι ὡς ὀθόνην μεγάλην τέσσαρσιν ἀρχαῖς καθιεμένην ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν ἄχρι ἐμοῦ·
Act 11:6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. Act 11:6 and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air. Act|11|6|εἰς ἣν ἀτενίσας κατενόουν καὶ εἶδον τὰ τετράποδα τῆς γῆς καὶ τὰ θηρία καὶ τὰ ἑρπετὰ καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ.
Act 11:7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. Act 11:7 I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat. ' Act|11|7|ἤκουσα δὲ καὶ φωνῆς λεγούσης μοι, ἀναστάς, πέτρε, θῦσον καὶ φάγε.
Act 11:8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. Act 11:8 But I said, 'By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth. ' Act|11|8|εἶπον δέ, μηδαμῶς, κύριε, ὅτι κοινὸν ἢ ἀκάθαρτον οὐδέποτε εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ στόμα μου.
Act 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Act 11:9 But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy. ' Act|11|9|ἀπεκρίθη δὲ φωνὴ ἐκ δευτέρου ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ἃ ὁ θεὸς ἐκαθάρισεν σὺ μὴ κοίνου.
Act 11:10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. Act 11:10 This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky. Act|11|10|τοῦτο δὲ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τρίς, καὶ ἀνεσπάσθη πάλιν ἅπαντα εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν.
Act 11:11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. Act 11:11 And behold, at that moment three men appeared at the house in which we were staying, having been sent to me from Caesarea. Act|11|11|καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐξαυτῆς τρεῖς ἄνδρες ἐπέστησαν ἐπὶ τὴν οἰκίαν ἐν ᾗ ἦμεν, ἀπεσταλμένοι ἀπὸ καισαρείας πρός με.
Act 11:12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: Act 11:12 The Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brethren also went with me and we entered the man's house. Act|11|12|εἶπεν δὲ τὸ πνεῦμά μοι συνελθεῖν αὐτοῖς μηδὲν διακρίναντα. ἦλθον δὲ σὺν ἐμοὶ καὶ οἱ ἓξ ἀδελφοὶ οὖτοι, καὶ εἰσήλθομεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ ἀνδρός·
Act 11:13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Act 11:13 And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here; Act|11|13|ἀπήγγειλεν δὲ ἡμῖν πῶς εἶδεν [τὸν] ἄγγελον ἐν τῶ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ σταθέντα καὶ εἰπόντα, ἀπόστειλον εἰς ἰόππην καὶ μετάπεμψαι σίμωνα τὸν ἐπικαλούμενον πέτρον,
Act 11:14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. Act 11:14 and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household. ' Act|11|14|ὃς λαλήσει ῥήματα πρὸς σὲ ἐν οἷς σωθήσῃ σὺ καὶ πᾶς ὁ οἶκός σου.
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. Act|11|15|ἐν δὲ τῶ ἄρξασθαί με λαλεῖν ἐπέπεσεν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς ὥσπερ καὶ ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἐν ἀρχῇ.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Act 11:16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. ' Act|11|16|ἐμνήσθην δὲ τοῦ ῥήματος τοῦ κυρίου ὡς ἔλεγεν, ἰωάννης μὲν ἐβάπτισεν ὕδατι, ὑμεῖς δὲ βαπτισθήσεσθε ἐν πνεύματι ἁγίῳ.
Act 11:17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? Act 11:17 Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" Act|11|17|εἰ οὗν τὴν ἴσην δωρεὰν ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ὁ θεὸς ὡς καὶ ἡμῖν πιστεύσασιν ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον ἰησοῦν χριστόν, ἐγὼ τίς ἤμην δυνατὸς κωλῦσαι τὸν θεόν;
Act 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Act 11:18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying," Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life." Act|11|18|ἀκούσαντες δὲ ταῦτα ἡσύχασαν καὶ ἐδόξασαν τὸν θεὸν λέγοντες, ἄρα καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὁ θεὸς τὴν μετάνοιαν εἰς ζωὴν ἔδωκεν.
Act 11:19 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. Act 11:19 So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone. Act|11|19|οἱ μὲν οὗν διασπαρέντες ἀπὸ τῆς θλίψεως τῆς γενομένης ἐπὶ στεφάνῳ διῆλθον ἕως φοινίκης καὶ κύπρου καὶ ἀντιοχείας, μηδενὶ λαλοῦντες τὸν λόγον εἰ μὴ μόνον ἰουδαίοις.
Act 11:20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus. Act 11:20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus. Act 11:21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. Act 11:22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. Act 11:22 The news about them reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas off to Antioch. Act|11|22|ἠκούσθη δὲ ὁ λόγος εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῆς ἐκκλησίας τῆς οὔσης ἐν ἰερουσαλὴμ περὶ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐξαπέστειλαν βαρναβᾶν [διελθεῖν] ἕως ἀντιοχείας·
Act 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. Act 11:23 Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; Act|11|23|ὃς παραγενόμενος καὶ ἰδὼν τὴν χάριν [τὴν] τοῦ θεοῦ ἐχάρη καὶ παρεκάλει πάντας τῇ προθέσει τῆς καρδίας προσμένειν τῶ κυρίῳ,
Act 11:24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Act 11:24 for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord. Act|11|24|ὅτι ἦν ἀνὴρ ἀγαθὸς καὶ πλήρης πνεύματος ἁγίου καὶ πίστεως. καὶ προσετέθη ὄχλος ἱκανὸς τῶ κυρίῳ.
Act 11:25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: Act 11:25 And he left for Tarsus to look for Saul; Act|11|25|ἐξῆλθεν δὲ εἰς ταρσὸν ἀναζητῆσαι σαῦλον,
Act 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Act 11:26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Act|11|26|καὶ εὑρὼν ἤγαγεν εἰς ἀντιόχειαν. ἐγένετο δὲ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐνιαυτὸν ὅλον συναχθῆναι ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ καὶ διδάξαι ὄχλον ἱκανόν, χρηματίσαι τε πρώτως ἐν ἀντιοχείᾳ τοὺς μαθητὰς χριστιανούς.
Act 11:27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. Act 11:27 Now at this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. Act|11|27|ἐν ταύταις δὲ ταῖς ἡμέραις κατῆλθον ἀπὸ ἱεροσολύμων προφῆται εἰς ἀντιόχειαν·
Act 11:28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. Act 11:28 One of them named Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world. And this took place in the reign of Claudius. Act 11:29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: Act 11:29 And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in Judea.
