Day - 320 - Acts 12-13
Act 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. Act 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king laid hands on some who belonged to the church in order to mistreat them. Act|12|1|κατ᾽ ἐκεῖνον δὲ τὸν καιρὸν ἐπέβαλεν ἡρῴδης ὁ βασιλεὺς τὰς χεῖρας κακῶσαί τινας τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας.
Act 12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. Act 12:2 And he had James the brother of John put to death with a sword. Act|12|2|ἀνεῖλεν δὲ ἰάκωβον τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἰωάννου μαχαίρῃ.
Act 12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) Act 12:3 When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. Now it was during the days of Unleavened Bread. Act|12|3|ἰδὼν δὲ ὅτι ἀρεστόν ἐστιν τοῖς ἰουδαίοις προσέθετο συλλαβεῖν καὶ πέτρον ἦσαν δὲ [αἱ] ἡμέραι τῶν ἀζύμων,
Act 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Act 12:4 When he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out before the people. Act|12|4|ὃν καὶ πιάσας ἔθετο εἰς φυλακήν, παραδοὺς τέσσαρσιν τετραδίοις στρατιωτῶν φυλάσσειν αὐτόν, βουλόμενος μετὰ τὸ πάσχα ἀναγαγεῖν αὐτὸν τῶ λαῶ.
Act 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Act 12:5 So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God. Act|12|5|ὁ μὲν οὗν πέτρος ἐτηρεῖτο ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ· προσευχὴ δὲ ἦν ἐκτενῶς γινομένη ὑπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας πρὸς τὸν θεὸν περὶ αὐτοῦ.
Act 12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. Act 12:6 On the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison. Act|12|6|ὅτε δὲ ἤμελλεν προαγαγεῖν αὐτὸν ὁ ἡρῴδης, τῇ νυκτὶ ἐκείνῃ ἦν ὁ πέτρος κοιμώμενος μεταξὺ δύο στρατιωτῶν δεδεμένος ἁλύσεσιν δυσίν, φύλακές τε πρὸ τῆς θύρας ἐτήρουν τὴν φυλακήν.
Act 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. Act 12:7 And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and woke him up, saying," Get up quickly." And his chains fell off his hands. Act|12|7|καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐπέστη, καὶ φῶς ἔλαμψεν ἐν τῶ οἰκήματι· πατάξας δὲ τὴν πλευρὰν τοῦ πέτρου ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν λέγων, ἀνάστα ἐν τάχει. καὶ ἐξέπεσαν αὐτοῦ αἱ ἁλύσεις ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν.
Act 12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. Act 12:8 And the angel said to him," Gird yourself and put on your sandals." And he did so. And he *said to him," Wrap your cloak around you and follow me." Act|12|8|εἶπεν δὲ ὁ ἄγγελος πρὸς αὐτόν, ζῶσαι καὶ ὑπόδησαι τὰ σανδάλιά σου. ἐποίησεν δὲ οὕτως. καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ, περιβαλοῦ τὸ ἱμάτιόν σου καὶ ἀκολούθει μοι.
Act 12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. Act 12:9 And he went out and continued to follow, and he did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. Act|12|9|καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἠκολούθει, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ὅτι ἀληθές ἐστιν τὸ γινόμενον διὰ τοῦ ἀγγέλου, ἐδόκει δὲ ὅραμα βλέπειν.
Act 12:10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. Act 12:10 When they had passed the first and second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened for them by itself; and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. Act|12|10|διελθόντες δὲ πρώτην φυλακὴν καὶ δευτέραν ἦλθαν ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην τὴν σιδηρᾶν τὴν φέρουσαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν, ἥτις αὐτομάτη ἠνοίγη αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐξελθόντες προῆλθον ῥύμην μίαν, καὶ εὐθέως ἀπέστη ὁ ἄγγελος ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ.
Act 12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. Act 12:11 When Peter came to himself, he said," Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent forth His angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting." Act|12|11|καὶ ὁ πέτρος ἐν ἑαυτῶ γενόμενος εἶπεν, νῦν οἶδα ἀληθῶς ὅτι ἐξαπέστειλεν [ὁ] κύριος τὸν ἄγγελον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξείλατό με ἐκ χειρὸς ἡρῴδου καὶ πάσης τῆς προσδοκίας τοῦ λαοῦ τῶν ἰουδαίων.
Act 12:12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. Act 12:12 And when he realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John who was also called Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. Act|12|12|συνιδών τε ἦλθεν ἐπὶ τὴν οἰκίαν τῆς μαρίας τῆς μητρὸς ἰωάννου τοῦ ἐπικαλουμένου μάρκου, οὖ ἦσαν ἱκανοὶ συνηθροισμένοι καὶ προσευχόμενοι.
Act 12:13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. Act 12:13 When he knocked at the door of the gate, a servant-girl named Rhoda came to answer. Act|12|13|κρούσαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ τὴν θύραν τοῦ πυλῶνος προσῆλθεν παιδίσκη ὑπακοῦσαι ὀνόματι ῥόδη·
Act 12:14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. Act 12:14 When she recognized Peter's voice, because of her joy she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter was standing in front of the gate. Act|12|14|καὶ ἐπιγνοῦσα τὴν φωνὴν τοῦ πέτρου ἀπὸ τῆς χαρᾶς οὐκ ἤνοιξεν τὸν πυλῶνα, εἰσδραμοῦσα δὲ ἀπήγγειλεν ἑστάναι τὸν πέτρον πρὸ τοῦ πυλῶνος.
Act 12:15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. Act 12:15 They said to her," You are out of your mind!" But she kept insisting that it was so. They kept saying," It is his angel." Act|12|15|οἱ δὲ πρὸς αὐτὴν εἶπαν, μαίνῃ. ἡ δὲ διϊσχυρίζετο οὕτως ἔχειν. οἱ δὲ ἔλεγον, ὁ ἄγγελός ἐστιν αὐτοῦ.
Act 12:16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. Act 12:16 But Peter continued knocking; and when they had opened the door, they saw him and were amazed. Act|12|16|ὁ δὲ πέτρος ἐπέμενεν κρούων· ἀνοίξαντες δὲ εἶδαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξέστησαν.
Act 12:17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place. Act 12:17 But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said," Report these things to James and the brethren." Then he left and went to another place. Act|12|17|κατασείσας δὲ αὐτοῖς τῇ χειρὶ σιγᾶν διηγήσατο [αὐτοῖς] πῶς ὁ κύριος αὐτὸν ἐξήγαγεν ἐκ τῆς φυλακῆς, εἶπέν τε, ἀπαγγείλατε ἰακώβῳ καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ταῦτα. καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη εἰς ἕτερον τόπον.
Act 12:18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. Act 12:18 Now when day came, there was no small disturbance among the soldiers as to what could have become of Peter. Act|12|18|γενομένης δὲ ἡμέρας ἦν τάραχος οὐκ ὀλίγος ἐν τοῖς στρατιώταις, τί ἄρα ὁ πέτρος ἐγένετο.
Act 12:19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode. Act 12:19 When Herod had searched for him and had not found him, he examined the guards and ordered that they be led away to execution. Then he went down from Judea to Caesarea and was spending time there. Act|12|19|ἡρῴδης δὲ ἐπιζητήσας αὐτὸν καὶ μὴ εὑρὼν ἀνακρίνας τοὺς φύλακας ἐκέλευσεν ἀπαχθῆναι, καὶ κατελθὼν ἀπὸ τῆς ἰουδαίας εἰς καισάρειαν διέτριβεν.
Act 12:20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country. Act 12:20 Now he was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; and with one accord they came to him, and having won over Blastus the king's chamberlain, they were asking for peace, because their country was fed by the king's country. Act|12|20|ἦν δὲ θυμομαχῶν τυρίοις καὶ σιδωνίοις· ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ παρῆσαν πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ πείσαντες βλάστον τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ κοιτῶνος τοῦ βασιλέως ᾐτοῦντο εἰρήνην, διὰ τὸ τρέφεσθαι αὐτῶν τὴν χώραν ἀπὸ τῆς βασιλικῆς.
Act 12:21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. Act 12:21 On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them. Act|12|21|τακτῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ ἡρῴδης ἐνδυσάμενος ἐσθῆτα βασιλικὴν [καὶ] καθίσας ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος ἐδημηγόρει πρὸς αὐτούς·
Act 12:22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. Act 12:22 The people kept crying out," The voice of a god and not of a man!" Act|12|22|ὁ δὲ δῆμος ἐπεφώνει, θεοῦ φωνὴ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώπου.
Act 12:23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. Act 12:23 And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died. Act|12|23|παραχρῆμα δὲ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ἄγγελος κυρίου ἀνθ᾽ ὧν οὐκ ἔδωκεν τὴν δόξαν τῶ θεῶ, καὶ γενόμενος σκωληκόβρωτος ἐξέψυξεν.
Act 12:24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. Act 12:24 But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied. Act|12|24|ὁ δὲ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ηὔξανεν καὶ ἐπληθύνετο.
Act 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark. Act 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their mission, taking along with them John, who was also called Mark. Act|12|25|βαρναβᾶς δὲ καὶ σαῦλος ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς ἰερουσαλὴμ πληρώσαντες τὴν διακονίαν, συμπαραλαβόντες ἰωάννην τὸν ἐπικληθέντα μᾶρκον.
Act 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. Act 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. Act 13:2 While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said," Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Act|13|2|λειτουργούντων δὲ αὐτῶν τῶ κυρίῳ καὶ νηστευόντων εἶπεν τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον, ἀφορίσατε δή μοι τὸν βαρναβᾶν καὶ σαῦλον εἰς τὸ ἔργον ὃ προσκέκλημαι αὐτούς.

Act 13:4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. Act 13:5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister. Act 13:5 When they reached Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; and they also had John as their helper. Act|13|5|καὶ γενόμενοι ἐν σαλαμῖνι κατήγγελλον τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς τῶν ἰουδαίων· εἶχον δὲ καὶ ἰωάννην ὑπηρέτην.
Act 13:6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: Act 13:6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name was Bar- Jesus, Act|13|6|διελθόντες δὲ ὅλην τὴν νῆσον ἄχρι πάφου εὖρον ἄνδρα τινὰ μάγον ψευδοπροφήτην ἰουδαῖον ᾧ ὄνομα βαριησοῦ,
Act 13:7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. Act 13:7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. This man summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. Act|13|7|ὃς ἦν σὺν τῶ ἀνθυπάτῳ σεργίῳ παύλῳ, ἀνδρὶ συνετῶ. οὖτος προσκαλεσάμενος βαρναβᾶν καὶ σαῦλον ἐπεζήτησεν ἀκοῦσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ·
Act 13:8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. Act 13:8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Act|13|8|ἀνθίστατο δὲ αὐτοῖς ἐλύμας ὁ μάγος, οὕτως γὰρ μεθερμηνεύεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, ζητῶν διαστρέψαι τὸν ἀνθύπατον ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως.
Act 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. Act 13:9 But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him, Act|13|9|σαῦλος δέ, ὁ καὶ παῦλος, πλησθεὶς πνεύματος ἁγίου ἀτενίσας εἰς αὐτὸν
Act 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? Act 13:10 and said," You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord? Act|13|10|εἶπεν, ὦ πλήρης παντὸς δόλου καὶ πάσης ῥᾳδιουργίας, υἱὲ διαβόλου, ἐχθρὲ πάσης δικαιοσύνης, οὐ παύσῃ διαστρέφων τὰς ὁδοὺς [τοῦ] κυρίου τὰς εὐθείας;
Act 13:11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Act 13:11 Now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and not see the sun for a time." And immediately a mist and a darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking those who would lead him by the hand. Act|13|11|καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ χεὶρ κυρίου ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ ἔσῃ τυφλὸς μὴ βλέπων τὸν ἥλιον ἄχρι καιροῦ. παραχρῆμά τε ἔπεσεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν ἀχλὺς καὶ σκότος, καὶ περιάγων ἐζήτει χειραγωγούς.
Act 13:12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. Act 13:12 Then the proconsul believed when he saw what had happened, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord. Act|13|12|τότε ἰδὼν ὁ ἀνθύπατος τὸ γεγονὸς ἐπίστευσεν ἐκπλησσόμενος ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ τοῦ κυρίου.
Act 13:13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem. Act 13:13 Now Paul and his companions put out to sea from Paphos and came to Perga in Pamphylia; but John left them and returned to Jerusalem. Act|13|13|ἀναχθέντες δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς πάφου οἱ περὶ παῦλον ἦλθον εἰς πέργην τῆς παμφυλίας· ἰωάννης δὲ ἀποχωρήσας ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν ὑπέστρεψεν εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα.
Act 13:14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. Act 13:14 But going on from Perga, they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, and on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. Act|13|14|αὐτοὶ δὲ διελθόντες ἀπὸ τῆς πέργης παρεγένοντο εἰς ἀντιόχειαν τὴν πισιδίαν, καὶ [εἰς]ελθόντες εἰς τὴν συναγωγὴν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων ἐκάθισαν.
Act 13:15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. Act 13:15 After the reading of the Law and the Prophets the synagogue officials sent to them, saying," Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it." Act|13|15|μετὰ δὲ τὴν ἀνάγνωσιν τοῦ νόμου καὶ τῶν προφητῶν ἀπέστειλαν οἱ ἀρχισυνάγωγοι πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγοντες, ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί, εἴ τίς ἐστιν ἐν ὑμῖν λόγος παρακλήσεως πρὸς τὸν λαόν, λέγετε.
Act 13:16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience. Act 13:16 Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said," Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen: Act|13|16|ἀναστὰς δὲ παῦλος καὶ κατασείσας τῇ χειρὶ εἶπεν· ἄνδρες ἰσραηλῖται καὶ οἱ φοβούμενοι τὸν θεόν, ἀκούσατε.
Act 13:17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it. Act 13:17 The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He led them out from it. Act|13|17|ὁ θεὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου ἰσραὴλ ἐξελέξατο τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν, καὶ τὸν λαὸν ὕψωσεν ἐν τῇ παροικίᾳ ἐν γῇ αἰγύπτου, καὶ μετὰ βραχίονος ὑψηλοῦ ἐξήγαγεν αὐτοὺς ἐξ αὐτῆς,
Act 13:18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness. Act 13:18 For a period of about forty years He put up with them in the wilderness. Act|13|18|καὶ ὡς τεσσερακονταετῆ χρόνον ἐτροποφόρησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ,
Act 13:19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot. Act 13:19 When He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land as an inheritance"all of which took about four hundred and fifty years. Act|13|19|καὶ καθελὼν ἔθνη ἑπτὰ ἐν γῇ χανάαν κατεκληρονόμησεν τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν

Act 13:35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Act 13:35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm, 'You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. ' Act|13|35|διότι καὶ ἐν ἑτέρῳ λέγει, οὐ δώσεις τὸν ὅσιόν σου ἰδεῖν διαφθοράν.

Act 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Act 13:41 'Behold, you scoffers, and marvel, and perish; For I am accomplishing a work in your days, A work which you will never believe, though someone should describe it to you. Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. Act 13:42 As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath. Act 13:46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said," It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. Act 13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
