Some recommended tools (and parts) for survival in an FSJ (or XJ) Jeep.
"supplies and parts:"
- duct tape (mostly kidding, but does come in handy, can fix a hose!)
- electrical tape (very useful)
- glass cleaner
- bailing wire (small section)
- electrical wire (small section 16 to 12 gauge)
- electrical crimp connectors
- 3 to 6 quarts of oil (preferably AMSOIL)
- one complete set of u-joints for both front and rear shafts
- a spare ignition module
- spare plugs (the old ones will work)
- a spare engine computer or brain (for the rig, not the driver)
- a spare cap and rotor
- spare plug wires (and possibly a spare coil)
- old radiator hoses (upper and lower, bypass and some heater hose)
- 2 quarts of ATF (again I recommend AMSOIL :)
- Oil filter
- air filter
- spare tail/turn/brake bulb
- fuel filter
- vacuum line (doubles for tranny lines if needed)
- two small hose clamps (tranny lines)
- two medium hose clamps (heater hoses)
- two large hose clamps (upper/lower hoses)
- leak stop stick for radiator/fuel tank
- Antifreeze or water if you're anyplace but the Pacific NorthWest
- fuses (or thermal breaker, better...allow it cool and reset)
- bottled water or canned soda for the passengers
- plumbers putty or caulk material
- blankets or extra coats
- first aid kit
- umbrella (for shade or rain)
- fire extinguisher
- hand cleaner and wipes
- paper towels
- plastic trash bags
- matches or lighter
- defensive weapon - handgun or rifle (laws vary in spite of the constitution...)
- ammo for defensive weapon
- spare injector or two
- gas can (empty is the safest, unless you're going far into the back country)
- spare belt(s)
- baseball cap
- leather work gloves
- AMSOIL MP (metal protector), or similar lubricant/penetrant
- coveralls or something to lay on
- section of plywood at least 2x2
- rubber gloves (surgical type)
- coffee cup
- survival knife
- shovel
