For those of you not familiar with WA geography, Chelan is in Central WA (pretty much in a N-S and E-W direction) and I live in the NW portion, on an island in Puget Sound (but we are connected to the mainland via a bridge). After a couple of minutes, I decided it was futile. Got out the tools and pulled all the seats out. Next came the various pieces of plastic. Then came the carpet. The carpet was absolutely NASTY. The previous owner had a big dog that she carried around in it, and she apparently didn't try real hard to keep it clean. My neighbor attacked the carpet with a garden hose and various cleaning supplies, while I scrubbed the seats and plastic parts. I still don't have the stuff as clean as I want, so I'll continue tomorrow. I also wiped out the bare-metal inside of the Jeep. Since it'll likely take two days for the carpet to dry, I'll mess around with the motor some more tomorrow. I need to find out where most of the oil is leaking from and try to fix it. Will also change the oil and check/set the timing. I need a new shift knob too... the stock one was already broke and spun around freely. But after I removed it, the white plastic interior that remained on the metal shifter handle crumbled into a chalky substance. That's all... just needed to ramble a bit. :) Rob - - 84 Cherokee Chief 2.5L 5sp silver/red 204k miles ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Dec 2000 21:54:53 -0800 From: john Subject: xj: junkscience http://www.junkscience.com/ ==================================================================== If it exhibits ambulatory and auditory characteristics consistent with current data on a small waterfowl with flat bill, short neck and webbed feet, it would be illogical to assume that it is anything other than a duck. However, in this era of post-modern license with basic linguistic commodities, our view is only relative and if we say we know the truth, we will be labeled a hateful, narrow-minded, intolerant bigot. So a duck is only a duck when you embrace his world view, otherwise, it's just a bunch of funny looking parts. ==================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Dec 2000 09:38:25 -0800 (PST) From: Carnuck-at-webtv.net (James Blair) Subject: xj: Parts for sale and free '83 Eagle and '84 Jeep 4.2L feedback carb control boxes and Jeep carb harness too.
