A: Turbo-city makes a kit for the TJ that should work with a few mods (like the higher output head). Finding a standard flywheel for the 3.4L may be a challenge, but if you go that far, you may as well get a NV4500 behind it! From: "Robert Glover" Remember the ignition problems I've posted about? Well, they're cured. Turns out somebody had wired in a cutoff switch, and the switch was going bad. Once the switch was removed, the thing started just fine. Now I'm looking at two realistic possibilities for a motor job: 1. Rebuild the 2.5L and use as many hi-po parts as possible (might get 150 hp) 1A. Same as above and fabricate a turbo for more power (could get me over 225 hp) 2. Install a GM HO 3.4L crate motor (About $2k for all parts), not sure what's involved with the motor mounts. Motor is rated for 160 hp. I'd do a carb setup and headers (if available) and aim for 200. I'm wondering which would be more difficult? I have the resources and people to contact regarding the turbo 2.5 idea, and in a way it seems like a neater idea. Seems like a must to do the turbo if I keep the 2.5 for low-end torque reasons. Would my AX-5 bolt up to the 3.4L without major issues? Actually, since the only RWD GM to use the 3.4L is the F-body (Camaro & Firebird) finding a 3.4 flywheel isn't too difficult (and FWIW, the earlier F-body 3.1L's flywheel will work just fine on a 3.4L too). Push come to shove, you could always buy a new one from the GM parts counter. It is also possible to use a 2.8L flywheel - you'd just have to get it rebalanced. And while the NV4500 is a superb tranny, it is expensive and requires adapters at both ends. OTOH, a NV3550 from a 2000-2001 2.5L TJ will bolt right up to the 60* GM V6 since the 2.5L has the same b/h pattern. Paul Yahoo! Well, Id like to ask a question and see if anyone has run into this problem before... The front parking lights on my XJ stopped working a month or so ago and I was wondering what the possible problem would be? the rear parking lights, all turn signals, and the headlamps wokr fine. But the front parking lights dont work at all. Its a possibility that it may be the switch, I just replaced it witha new one, so maybe I have a bad switch or just bad connection there? It happened about a few weeks after I installed the switch. Another weird thing is that the front parking lights wouldnbt work occasionally, then work fine for long periods of time. This time though, they are out! Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks Mahalo Alan Chung 90 Cherokee Limited 4.6 Bellingham, Wa Honolulu, HI P.S. Both my PIAA bulbs burnt out at the same time as well...so looks like Ill be upgrading to some IPF/Magic J-bulbs. Is it true that the green MagicJs are better than the blue ones? One of the Hella lens is cracked, so might as well replace the set. ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #1059 *************************
