At least you don't live in an apt... with a "nothing other than *parking your car* in the lot" rule, a guy in the building next to me got yelled at for washing his truck (bucket and sponge touch up) in the lot. :) Think I have found a house for rent up here, so maybe in the next few months I can get out of here and get into a place with a garage (finally). On friday I checked out a mostly restored M37... what a sweet truck.. he wanted $4700 (which I don't have) but man, I'm starting to figure up ways to get it :) Oh and the best news is that my Dana60 (rear) housing should be here on monday. Woohoo, I have never built an axle from scratch before, so this will be a learning project. Any advice you all can give will be much appreciated. Anyway... I saw that naxja is planning a run this winter (tentative) at Attica, IN (The badlands) and was wondering if any of you guys would want to come down/over/up perhaps. I am planning on going, so we will see. - -Dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Sep 2002 23:16:37 -0700 From: john Subject: xj: 4.10's or 3.54's... getting closer... 4.10's seem to be the ratio of recommendation... My two cents - I'd go with the 4.10's. Sounds like you are already considering bigger tires, so go 4.10 and save yourself hassles. The 4.0L was set up pretty ideal in the XJ with 3.54 gears and 28-29 inch tires. Going to a higher final drive ratio will put the rpm down too low in the torque curve on the highway, and you'll just burn more fuel and downshift more often.
