Picked out a superb color... it's going to be show quality when we're done, but designed for use. Dual tanks, lift, Ox lockers (or maybe ARBs,we'll see). Mainly designed for the street, but certainly trail capable... not that I'll be bashing it around on PNW trails... might see SuperDawg at Moab though... or out in Colorado, the trails there are much nicer then the PNW, there ain't no trees in the way... :) Oh, one other thing about the delay... I've picked up a very nice high mileage '87 XJ... :) Looking forward to commuting in it. later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Sep 2002 21:36:41 -0600 From: "Aaron Storms" Subject: xj: Re: calculating vs. wrenching... Wow, pretty impressive plans! Should be a very nice rig when completed. I just picked up another (4th) high-mileage 89xj too for $100, does that sound about right? ...:) Of course it doesn't run (yet), needs a new front clip, new bumpers, battery, fuel pump, new wheels and tires, a windshield, a 3" lift and new carpet. We may have been money ahead to find one in better shape, but we'll see how it goes. Our mutual buddy JC is trying to get Max whipped into shape in-between working on my business website and all his other customers. I found and bought a military bed that will fit Max, so he's trying to get that fixed up and mounted as well. Page" Subject: xj: RE: Re: 4.10s - more votes of confidence Hang on a second here ;) if I remember correctly there is the Sony Stereo, the heated seats, the perfect colour, the perfect engine, tranny, and gear ratio. Lets not forget the custom dash, special order carpets, and fancy thermometer too. Have I been following this project? Well yes, I wish that I could devote as much time as John does for my own perfect vehicle project! Not to mention his chief builder moved in the middle of it all! It still amazes me that everything is still in one place ;) FWIW I think that the 4.10's are better too, due to the added weight. A little more pep in the city never hurt anyone, especially when you need to get out of a sticky situation. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Darren K. Anyway, there should be three attachment points. Two bolts toward the front. One is a pivot, the other a "clamp" that fits in a slotted bracket. The third point is the adjustment, it'll be on the driver's side of the pump... it'll swing the unit back and forth... So, find the pivot bolt first, loosen it BUT DON'T remove it. Then find the "slider bolt on the front of the pump/bracket. Loosen it BUT DON'T REMOVE IT. Then find the bolt on the side of the pump, it's 14 or 15mm if memory serves me correctly... one way moves the pump out, the other way moves it in... Once you take the tension off you can slip the belt off to replace it... Or, thinking about it... you can just run it till it flies off and then you'll see the bolts real easy like...rofl... :) Oh, while you're in there, check your water pump and idler pulley, spin it, if it' makes noise, feels rough or wobbles, time to deal with that too. :) happy wrenching, john meister - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Sep 2002 23:34:41 EDT From: LoveMy90XJ-at-aol.com Subject: Re: xj: part number for Rusty's track bar tie rod end?
