Plus they look cool! I would have given him more then that... argghhh... so I asked how much they wanted for the Dana 44 rear axle with trac lock... (and 278,000 miles)... $750! mark's decided to sell his '77 Cherokee, 360/v8 th400/Qt And the t18/d20, 3.55 gears, 35" tires, rear locker... the trans is out... as is $1,700, put together $2,500. sweet low mileage motor with offenhauser dual plane and edelbrock 1406, nice exhaust system... lots of lift and cut out fenders... I think we're going to do something radical with my '77 J20... we're using the rear of the cab to extend SuperDawg's cab... :) I think Whit wants the doors, so we may have an open cab, will shorten the frame, lock it up and have some fun with it... maybe... we'll see, mark's funds are going to his "new" '62 Galaxy 500 (2dr) and mine are going to SuperDawg... :) email me, in digest mode... john-at-wagoneers.com later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Oct 2002 11:59:01 -0700 From: john Subject: xj: new powerplant for hondas... :) http://www.wagoneers.com/pages/RocketCar/Civic_V-1.jpg someone found the Rocket Car story on my server and sent me this picture... :) john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.WAGONEERS.com/ Snohomish, WA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... jesus, don't leave life without him, please! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 11:43:43 -0700 From: john Subject: xj: Re: hi At 02:41 PM 10/21/2002 -0400, Prolog E-Mail wrote: >Hello I was just wondering if you could help me out alittle. If so please email me back at shelleys-at-ptd.net > thanks > Jake Jake, Did you destroy the motor? Sometimes you may get lucky and it died because the distributor got wet. Do you know if water actually got into the engine completely to the point that something broke, like a rod or piston? Drain the oil and see if metal flakes and water come out... if the oil is ok, and the engine cranks... then do a compression test after changing the oil. IF all the cylinders are pretty close to each other you may be ok. If not, and you didn't break a rod or the crank you could try to have your engine rebuilt. Typical price for a rebuild having someone do all the work runs $1,500 to $2,500. Don't go to the dealership you'll pay less by buying another Jeep. ;) A wrecking yard motor could run from $300 to $1000 depending on the miles, compression and your location. You might consider buying a wrecked Jeep with a good engine. A new long block can be purchased through a parts store like napa or one of the lesser quality chain stores for a grand or so, depending... R&R will run $500 to a grand... lots of variables... later, john - ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL/Filter_INFORMATION/air_filter-1.jpg http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL/Filter_INFORMATION/air_filter-2.jpg SJ Jeeps: 360/401: TS-23 258: TS-12 retail $21.50 XJ Jeeps: 4.0L/2.5L('87 and up): TS-29 retail $29.95 WJ Jeeps: 4.7L: TS-104 retail $47.50 DieselBenz: typical S1118 or S1680 retail $32.50 or $39.85 http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL/ order 1-800-956-5695 cust# 283461 Snohomish, WA, where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... - ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #1536 *************************
