I got the idea of putting on an anniversary event every five years from the early Bronco guys, and so decided to do it. The XJ first came out as an '84 model in '83, so we're going to do the first anniversary event this year, which will be the 20th anniversary of the XJ. The idea is to do something special enough that it gives people a good reason to get together somewhere in the country with other XJ'ers at least every five years. We've chosen Moab for the first ever Anniversary Celebration because it is such a popular wheeling destination, and it truly has something for everyone. A stock or near stock XJ can do most of the trails in Moab, and the scenery on every trail there is spectacular. There are also more challenging trails, and plenty of sightseeing to do with Canyonlands and Arches National Parks only minutes from town. Check out this link for more information about the event: http://www.naxja.org/events/moab2003/ Everyone with an XJ or MJ is invited to participate in this celebration, and it's a free event. Naxja is the sponsor of the event, but I'm hoping that other XJ groups will join in to make it a universal gathering of XJ's and MJ's. I'm also hoping that some other XJ groups will agree to participate by taking on one of the activities at the event. Activities will include a variety of runs everyday, some evening meals, a vehicle show with prizes, a vendor display, a large dinner gathering with award presentations, slide show, and a raffle. We are also giving away a built up XJ by selling tickets all year and drawing the winning ticket that night. The date of the 20th Anniversary Celebration is Oct 6-12. Now I realize that you all are planning an annual activity on the same date. I'm hoping that some of you on this list would like to join us, I would sure be glad to meet you, and I think this will be a great opportunity to meet people in person that we have only web wheeled with. If you like going to Moab, or have always wanted to go, this would be a very good time to go.
