Greetings To The XJ World! Yes it is really true. I have sold the famous USS Grand Wagoneer. The lack of a full time paying job for over a year has forced me to part with a well loved truck. I just can not stand to think about an Ohio Winter without a sturdy Jeep. So I am coming back to the XJ side of the planet. They are well built. They have a lot of available parts, and they get great gas mileage. Now as your friendly neighborhood list admin Admiral I need my memory refreshed on some XJ basics. 1) Are there really XJ's for sale with no rust on the frame? They are sure not in Ohio. 2) What was the first year that they began to use real radiators in the XJ? I will not want to have another one of those funk pressure bottles on the firewall. That thing with its crazy plumbing made me nervous that it might burst at any minute. 3) What year did they start installing driver side air bags on XJ's? I want no part of those party poppers in my rig! Thanks for the help in advance gang. I am glad to be back with something to write about, rather then just being a lurking reader. I suspect you'll return to the FSJ world again, as you have to the XJ world. I've done the same thing with Diesel Benz autos... so, as soon as you get a job you'll be looking for a nice J10 to fill out the stable, and ditch that non-jeep dodge. ;) Just got back from about a 370 mile drive around the olympic peninsula in shadowfax... the '91 300d 2.5 L Turbo Diesel... started out with under 3/4 tank... still have over 1/4 tank left... :) suspect it'll be at least 35 mpg... should see about 600 miles out of this tank, usually takes 14.5 gallons to fill... sure wish SuperDawg would be able to do that, because he's going to be a lot more comfortable to drive then the benz.... my wife does not like the seats in this 124 at all... she's actually looking forward to SuperDawg being done since he's got the '99 WJ seats. :) I wonder if Jeep seats will fit in a Mercedes? :) Brian, thanx for taking care of the lists... glad you found a good home for the USS GW and may you have fun shopping for the XJ. Don't worry about that cooling system... my '87 has 245,000 miles on the original engine/trans and that bottle looks pretty original as well... Just be sure to get a 4.0L and the rest will work out fine... no such thing as a bad year for the XJ... only those bad GM engines. ;) john Colucci B wrote: > Greetings To The FSJ World! > > Well as many on the list have experienced, I too have been without a > full time job for over a year. The drain is underneeth the vehicle, and is a hose that comes out just above the upper control arm. Just try cleaning it out. - ----- Original Message ----- From: loeb To: ; Sent: Saturday, October 04, 2003 11:24 PM Subject: xj: Water in the cab > A lot of water is settling in the passenger compartment of my 96 XJ. > The water doesn't smell at all like antifreeze, so I'm assuming that the > AC evaporator drain must be clogged or disconnected.
