I had a similar problem on a Comanche. I did get the panel off. Took out all the screws I could reach and brutalized the rest! Then I started pushing/pulling on linkages until it opened. I then permanently murdered the lock. Truck isn't lockable, but its such a POS-looker that this is NOT a problem... - -Don - ----- Original Message ----- From: "HC Carter" To: Sent: Friday, October 10, 2003 11:35 AM Subject: xj: lock & key & door panel??? > Hey! Hmm, I had a similiar problem. My locks on both doors wern't loose, but it was hard to get the key in. The little springs and stuff that hold that outer plate were all smashed up from me trying to get the key in right. There is this lock grease stuff you can put in there that will help that. It worked for a while on the passenger side, and then my key broke off inside. I wound up take some needle nose pliers and removing the little cover off the lock. Now I don't have a problem unlocking my doors at all, but the little whole is exposed. If I had any money to my name I'd call an auto locksmith or somthing and get them replaced. But since I don't have any money to spare, it's not really a problem anymore. At least they work. Get some spray lubricator and spray around the key, then try opening from the inside. If you have automatic locks, keep switching them back and forth - it worked on my Toyota. Once I got it open again, I sprayed everything and it works great. BUT, it was the first time it didn't work - I had no warning (procrastination has a way of getting even) ;-) HC Carter wrote: > Hey! Looks like a drive lines (both) off, Transfercase/transmission move/remove type job. Guess if I am going through the effort I might as well get new pan and rear main seals to try to stem the oil leak flow. Any thing else should be on my list to replace? ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #1720 *************************
