Guess I'm going to sell the Benz as soon as my J10 is put back together... I'd rather drive my J10 then the Benz... I like the view from a Jeep. :) BTW, picked up another Matchbox #71 (Gladiator Pickup), this one with a green interior! later, john - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------ john at http://wagoneers.com from Snohomish,WA- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... reminding you not to leave life w/o Jesus! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2003 08:36:41 -0800 From: HC Carter Subject: xj: XJ side-to-side Door Lock Swap? Hey - I finally got my stuck key out of the drivers side door lock - after driving around with it stuck in the door for a couple of weeks! :o) The lock mechanism on the drivers side is really loose and sketchy. Passenger side lock is fine. Has anyone tried swapping the lock mechanisms from side-to-side? 88 2-Door XJ Pioneer Thanks, Howard === ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2003 09:04:57 -0800 From: john meister Subject: Re: xj: XJ side-to-side Door Lock Swap? should work fine... Just as soon as you swap them, you'll find a need to enter from the passenger side.... so while you have both locks out, just take to a locksmith and get the bad one fixed and maybe some new keys as they may be worn down as well. john meister wrote: > should work fine... Could have gone to a wrecking yard and bought a pair and had 'em rekeyed for less... another option is to get an alarm system with a remote... that's what I did on my J10. :) john Tom Moulder wrote: > Just as soon as you swap them, you'll find a need to enter from the > passenger side.... so while you have both locks out, just take to a > locksmith and get the bad one fixed and maybe some new keys as they > may be worn down as well. > > john meister wrote: > >> should work fine... Ok, fuel smell is probably bad O-rings, maybe a bad injector - will do a visual on that hard starting - I'm thinking CPS - but I'm open to ideas I think I'm going to replace the dist cap & plugs, suspect it hasn't been tuned either lately (the church has been suffering with the economy, pastors haven't been paid etc...) brake fluid loss, either rear wheel cylinders or master cylinder cooling system, water pump erosion? So, I guess the parts list to start out with should be: - plugs & cap - o-rings for injector rail - water pump/tstat - master cylinder - cps??? I just degreased the engine with simple green... it's pouring rain outside... carport is wet... so hopefully I'll hear back from y'all on what else might be needed... hopefully alan chung will respond, after all he's the guru of things sensor on xj's. ;) later, john - -- - ------------------------------------------------------------------ john at http://wagoneers.com from Snohomish,WA- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold... reminding you not to leave life w/o Jesus! - ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #1732 *************************
