If you have a mechanic who uses this method to install or remove shocks, then get a new mechanic! I shudder to think of what other un-orthodox methods a "professional" mechanic may take if he/she doesn't have the correct tool for the job. This method may be fine for the shade-tree mechanic,(not really, but some special tools can be prohibitivly expensive) but a professional needs to stock the professional tools that is used to do his/her job! Imagine a doctor who uses his/her Swiss Army knife because they can't find the scalpel! Well the 87 xj is running around on its own power on a daily basis, and even passed the evil emissions nazi test. I replaced the rear brake linings & wheel cylinders; stopping is a good thing. Now I need parts. I need a radio / cassette player. I have an old style AMC unit, that is not the premium jensen type. It has an LED display, where-as the Jensen's have the LCD. I do not have the tweeter speakers in the base of the dash, just the empty holes. The four speakers I have are fine, but my radio must have a bad right channel amp, because after playing for awhile the right channel sound gets very distorted. The cassette player works, but it plays tapes just a few ticks to fast, just enough to annoy you if you have a good ear for music. So does anybody have one of these radios sitting on a shelf they would like to part with? I also need a new cable controlled, drivers side, outside mirror. (not the electric mirror) One of my little cable wires is broken so the mirror will not move in or out. Want to get rid of one you have on a shelf in your garage? I am also looking for the full dash gauge assembly with the tach. Hey has anybody saved one from a parted out 80's XJ? I have a home for it. The big item. I am looking for the complete grill, and headlight insert assembly for an 80's Cherokee. The standard 2 headlight type, not the four headlight type. I will also need the headlight buckets, and the wiring harness. I am sure somebody has this taking up to much space in their garage. It would be more happy on the front of a moving Jeep, like mine. SO gang it is time to start that spring cleaning! Let the Admiral know what you have got; and let's see if we can strike a deal. Until The Next Dimension, Admiral "Coluch."
