But I am constantly hearing about 8.8 explorer axles for sale here in Southern California. Prices range from $350-$700 (from what I remember) depending on condition and if there has been a gear change or a locker intstalled. If you want I will let you know of any deals I hear about, or even scout the local wreaking yards for one. I just don't know if there is an economical way to ship one to you. When it first happened, out in the mud, I had my wife had go through the gears, drive it like normal, (obviously she wasn't going anywhere) and I climbed underneath and both driveshafts were spinning, normal like. Is there a way the passenger rear axle shaft could have broke??? Because the front fork is broken, is there anything in the system that would tell the rear not to work at that point??? I agree with the diff cover removal, but of course, I have all of the bolts out and the last two of them are stripped!!!! (AAAAHHHH <-----pulling my hair out) Now that the axle is out, and the front is almost out, what would I need to get to upgrade these things to handle the tires?? The undersized engine....well that is just gonna have a wait a while. I don't think 31's are all that excessive... hey, my '87 xj is running 31x10.5's and it's got 240,000 plus miles on it... with the 4.0L.
