I noted that as odd when I did the second, picture, walk-around. The front axle is full-floating with hub locks and what I take to be ball joints. __________________ XJ Dreamin' Stock 2WD '93XJ, 4.0L HO, AW4, D35c, LT 235/75R15 A/T's all 'round *************************** >From: Aaron Storms >Reply-To: xj-at-digest.net >To: xj-at-digest.net >Subject: Re: xj: Jeepster for sale >Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2004 18:29:04 -0400 (EDT) > >I couldn't tell for sure from that small web pic, but that was a common >rear axle for those years of Commando's. The tub is rusted to where I have expandable insulation foam filling holes in the rear, fiberglass replacements run 6K, and the engine is tired. 235s aren't going to cut it even for the mild wheeling I would see in the near future. I can't pass up forged aluminum wheels and 2k mile tires for $400 and another 500 for a lift isn't a big deal. I'm not a mall cruiser, just realistic in my expectations of what the Jeep will be used for in the near future. I figure I can tear into it and add anything necessary when the Blazer is fully retired. Being able to add a few more inches to the current setup and maybe adjustable arms to get there would be fine by me but I would rather wait until I really need them. - --- Don Hansen wrote: > This could be the most expensive set of wheels and tires ever! 235's > fit > the stock Jeep fine... > > If you're not going to do it for the off-road improvement, I'd skip the > project.
