The following models are locally available * Rancho R RS9000XT Nine-position Adjustable Shock Absorber with Rancho R RS99700 Dual-action Remote Control System * Rancho R RSXT Shock Absorber * Rancho R RS5000T High-Performance Shock My mechanic tells me that the RS5000 are the best hassle-free shocks in the market. Has anyone used either of the two other shocks and if so would you recommend them or are they just expensive toys offering little performance value over the RS5000s. If I was to lift the vehicle after installation of the shocks.would I have to replace them? . I seem to hearing squeaking noises from the steering column while making a turn.freaking me out. also when I turn the steering all the way to the right or left I hear this distinct hissing sound. again the mechanic says that's normal with power steering? Is it time to run him down? What's with this "lubrication of steering linkages", it seems to be all over the maintenance book but my mechanic says that the steering linkage is closed up and doesn't require to be frequently lubricated. The lift gate support/shocks seems to show slight signs of rust. do they need to be lubricated. any special lube or anything else I should keep in mind Cheers Boney Varghese Ph: +971 4 335 2419 Fx: +971 4 335 2419 Mob: +971 50 545 0436 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Oct 2004 07:39:05 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: xj: Over the hill only 161,000 miles? does your front driveshaft disconnect or spin all the time? you want to check the double cardan joing by the xfr case and of course by the front axle. otherwise normal oil changes and a check of bearings and such is all you need. my '87 xj is down with my son in Arizona... it has over 260,000 miles on it and doing well. I'd spray amsoil mp on them, or silicon spray... or a light oil... you really don't want them getting all gunked up with something though as that will wear out the seals. john >--> >--> >--> >--> >--> >-->Cheers >--> >--> >--> >-->Boney Varghese >--> >-->Ph: +971 4 335 2419 >--> >-->Fx: +971 4 335 2419 >--> >-->Mob: +971 50 545 0436 >--> ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Oct 2004 18:58:26 +0400 From: Boney Varghese Subject: RE: xj: Over the hill Thanks John I'll keep that in mind!
