Spraying ALL the bolts you may ever open on your Jeep with your fav anti-rust lubricant now before you have to work on it is a VERY good idea! From: Bob Subject: re: xj: Fuel gauge calibration There was actually a recall (or a warranty coverable TSB) on one of the years. I see so many cars a day it's hard to keep track We sell a lot of senders for ALL the Chrysler products at my dealership. Since the pump modules they are attached to aren't much better, and it's a pain to drop the tank, I'd live with it until it the pump craps (and it will) and then replace the pump module which will come with the sender. Have the local dealer run your vin# (or call me at 800-533-7278 during EST business hours and give me an excuse to ignore the grouchy boss and even grouchier techs) and see if the recall/TSB applies to you though....you might get lucky and THEY"LL drop the tank for you! I think it was the '97s though, but it may have run into '98.... Either way, our techs like to drop the tanks and bleach them whenever they do a pump module (providing they can sell the job) as we ran into a strange fungal phenomenon last year that caused a number of "come backs" ......that affects the Chrysler "Five Star" rating of the dealership, so they don't take any chances! After we pulled our hair out for a while, a dealer in Meriden clued us in on that possibility, as it had happened to them. john wrote: > On Mon, 10 Jan 2005, Bob wrote: > > >-->Not really different........the pump is in the top of the tank, the tank is in > >-->the bottom of the car, for all intents and purposes they are all the same > >-->(different pump part #s for different years of course). > >-->But....... for YOU "brushing away a little mold" on YOUR tank straps is a whole > >-->lot easier than trying to wrench rusted bolts out of OUR'S here in the > >-->Northeast!! ;-) > > so it moved to the top, under the body... > not like this then: > http://www.wagoneers.com/XJ/tech/Filters/XJ-fuelpump-filter-4L.jpg > > john > > >--> > >-->john wrote: > >--> > >-->> cool info, thanx Bob! > >-->> > >-->> are the newer xj's different than the late 80's?
