A: Chains? We don't need no steenking chains! (or badgers!) Actually, I keep cables and have a tow chain. I built my own quick hookup cleat system years ago that I could put on and take off one handed in 10 minutes after installing the brackets. Wouldn't be any fun if you had a flat though! I think an update on my design with some kind of heavy poly brackets (kevlar maybe?) would be a best seller. From: loeb Subject: xj: Tire Chains? Can anyone recommend tire chains for occasional use on ski trips to the Sierras? I suspect that the cable type are less prone to breaking, but some people prefer real chain. There is also a new plastic kind available. Any thoughts? - - -- Loeb Mechatronics Product Design Engineering Manager ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2005 17:01:21 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: xj: amc motor stuff not sure if I mentioned this already, but my son has a '74 Javelin now down in Tucson... the '87 xj is still safe and functional... ;) http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/CARS/Marks-Javelin/ anyway, any good info on amc parts and engine goodies? john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 21:55:05 -0500 From: Marc Subject: xj: Injectors, they're leaking or seeping Lately, I've been smelling this smell that made me think it was grease but I didn't see anything obvious. Well, it was a stronger smell this morning from my '89 XJ with a 4.0. I opened the hood and noticed that a couple of injectors are seeping fuel. With this cooler than normal weather here in the east, 18 degrees at 9:50pm, it seems that leaks spring up. I've read that I can change out my injectors with 19# ford mustang 5.0 injectors. Has anyone done this? It is a basically a stock engine except for the K&N air filter and Flowmaster exhaust. It seems the mustang injectors might give me better economy. If anyone has done this, I need to get the part number. I asked about these injectors at 3 different parts places and they said " I cannot look up an injector by it's pressure rating...". Gee, thanks. These same parts places where out of the stock injectors.
