The three are Single DIN, One and a half DIN and Double DIN. All Single DINs will fit all three holes (with extra pieces), all 1.5 DINS fit the last two, and only a Double DIN fits a Double DIN. Overwhelmingly, most radios are Single DINS, but Jeep/Chrysler has also done some DIN and a halfs, and Double DINS. You'll just have to measure only the height to figure out which will fit - widths are all the same. The dash only has something to do with the radio installation when it covers part of said radio/head unit. They are too expensive to buy from, but they offer ways to find what fits. Under the 99 XJ, they list "With Infinity Sound System", "Without Infinity Sound System - 2 speakers" and "Without Infinity Sound System - 4 speakers" They look like in all cases a single DIN is in order. john wrote: >so the question is, is the '99 a 1.5 din or a 1 din. >I think the '86 is a 1 din. > >the '99 WJ is a 2 din. > >john > >On Fri, 22 Apr 2005, Tom Moulder wrote: > > > >>-->There are three basic sizes of aftermarket radios - plus all the custom ones >>-->Ford and others put in to discourage you.
