Both my 89 and 90 jeeps had that 82,500 mile light turn on. I found this box under the dash with like a million gears in it. I cracked it open (without losing any of the gears) and found one gear with a metal contact on it and a plastic bump that caused the the metal to make contact. I moved this gear passed the bump and taped the box back together again and everything's been fine since (over 250,000 miles on the 89 and 215,000 miles on the 90...Needless to say, I've done this several times!) A: It does have a different setup. I want a working MT2500 (I got the Jeep 1 connector but I've been beat out several times on EBay for another tester. The one I had before was burned up when my Snap-On guy was murdered and his van torched a couple years ago) One of the other lists I'm on is deciphering all the computer code for the Renix EFI and making a setup that can be read with a laptop. From: "Mike Petersen" Subject: Re: xj: reset maint req'd light? My 89 had the Renix Computer and a totally different interface. It uses a different adaptor than the Chrysler computer and the diagnostic connector is on the right inside wheelwell. As far as I know the Renix does not retain any code information but does allow you to read data using the Snap On Scanner and the Jeep 1 connector. But as I remember the data was pretty primitive.
