I towed a 300cd backwards behind my WJ... it was absolutely terrifying over 35mph.... a friend of mine was towing a scout behind a scout, also backwards, if I recall his story correctly, and he ended up swapping ends on I-5 and landing unharmed in the median... either way, my flat towing experiences have been much less eventful, with just the annoyances of not being able to back or take sharp turns, or having the front wheels on the following vehicle fight you... :) One thing I like about the tow bar over the trailer or dolly is storage. ;) john On Thu, 5 May 2005, Don White wrote: >-->Like I said, I have never used the dolly, so I can't say much about them. >-->Flat towing would be okay IF all the following apply: you were staying in >-->town, on local roads where your speed would be 35 MPH or less, the >-->pavement was dry, and you only need to flat tow for less than 15 or 20 >-->miles...... >-->> >-->> >-->> >-->> >-->> >-->> I agree that the car trailer is the best. >-->> Tow dollies can be very dangerous. >-->> Flat towing is awkward at times, as you mentioned...  last >-->>       time I flat towed the tow vehicle was >-->> twice the size of the towee.  :) (I towed a 300cd behind a full >-->> size blazer...  I almost flat towed my xj behind the K15 and was >-->> planning on pulling the engineless K15 behind the xj... that surely >-->> would have been an experience.  :) >-->> >-->> john >-->> >--> >--> >-->************************************************************************* ******** >-->I can only speak for myself, as no one else will let me speak for them. >--> >-->************************************************************************* ******** >--> >--> >--> >-->------------------------ Yahoo! I've even got the custom adapter to mate the NP219 with the AW4. It's possible to do the swap with the XFR case in stock position, no driveline mods... the AW4 is slightly longer so you may have ot move motor mounts and or the radiator. My view is it's a lot easier to move motor mounts and a rad support than pay someone to have my drivelines modified, especially considering that I have more problems measuring the needed dimensions to do that then fitting the driveline in place. ;) john On Fri, 6 May 2005, Kevin Pekarek wrote: >-->On Fri, May 06, 2005 at 12:57:33AM -0400, john wrote: >-->> The 4.0L I was going to use for SuperDawg is either >-->> going to be sold or I'll find a nice clean late model >-->> GW with a dead boat anchor and to the conversion on it... >-->> >-->> some one please buy this 4.0L from me. ;) >--> >-->Odd, I was considering the same thing.
