I really need to wear my reading glasses when working on cars these days... ;) recommendations on affordable wires at local parts stores? thanx, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 May 2005 02:28:46 -0400 (EDT) From: john Subject: xj: snohomish projects... I'm heading down to pickup a lower mileage 6.2L Diesel with a freshly rebuilt 700r4 this weekend for SuperDawg... need to come up with some bucks. ;) also means I'll be keeping the '83 GMC jimmy intact and selling it... I guess that's a good thing, a rust free K15 should be able to find a good home... eventually. ;) I will be selling the '79 300sd Turbo Diesel, my son decided that he's able to fix his cherokee and doesn't want it now... I put it back up on craig's list tonight. I have all the pieces now to make it right. They're in the trunk... some assembly required. ;) I just don't have time to install them... asking $1,500 for it, but if someone comes by with cash before Saturday I'd be willing to deal... need to raise cash for that engine for my J10. Which also means I have that '96 4.0L with the AW4 and all the factory wiring and computers from an XJ, along with the custom adapter to mate to an FSJ NP219 transfer case(or an NP208, NP228/9, etc. Complete "kit" for an SJ to get better mileage, or fix up an XJ and switch to SJ axles? Asking $1,500 for the entire package... paid more than that for just the engine... the adapter to mate the AW4 to the NP219 cost me about $365 alone. :( I'm probably going to sell the '92 cherokee once I make sure I've got all the bugs worked out... I think my daughter will either keep her '91 pontiac or buy the '86 cheorkee with the 2.5L as it has all the bells and whistles as well as economy. :) With fuel prices the way they are she may want to stick with the Pontiac. so, here's the list: 79 300sd 3.0L - asking $1,500 91 pontiac grand am 2.5L - for sale? $1,500 86 cherokee chief 2.5L - (kbb.com retail $2,650) ? ? 92 cherokee sport 4.0L - (kbb.com retail $4,690) ? ? 83 gmc jimmy 6.2L - asking $1,800 - 18mpg towing 3 tons!!! 96 xj 4.0L HO engine w/wiring/computers, AW4, adapter and NP219 $1,500 john alternate email: dieseljohn-at-comcast.net ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 May 2005 02:44:24 -0400 (EDT) From: john Subject: xj: Re: fsj: jeep jeep and a benz On Wed, 11 May 2005, Karl Streich wrote: >-->Hey John- >--> >-->After a good bit of googling and head-n-arse scratching I figured you are the guy to ask, I'm trying to find out the torque output of a stock late 300SD (from the mid 80s) turbodiesel is, I found 120 hp and hope it is close to 200# on torque, I'm thinking of instaling a hot roded MBZ diesel in my '79 cherokee or more likley this mid '60s J2000 that I was offered. >--> >-->Got any sources? >-->Thanks >-->Karl sources of engines? Stand on it and it goes... but if you back off the gas and there is any kind of load it's rough. That leads me to believe, along with the fact that two of the plugs indicated a rich mixture, that I've got a couple of bad injectors. That's the next step. Still need to find that maint req'd relay on the '92 to either reset it or unplug it... the computer at schucks didn't reset that lamp. I'm pretty sure I'll be selling this Jeep, especially if I can get the Chief all dialed in properly. It'll be more economical for my daughter and has the a/c, etc. This '92 sport is very clean and other than this miss/roughness is really in great shape. Probably going to ask $3k for it based on the book values I saw last night. Of course it'll be 100% before it leaves. Heading down to get my "new" 6.2L on Saturday for SuperDawg. :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 May 2005 20:15:54 -0400 (EDT) From: john Subject: xj: learning computers My wife made an interesting discovering while sending an email to our daughter: "It's funny, spell check wanted to replace Schucks with schmucks!" :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2087 *************************
