The parts guy there seems knowledgable. He suggested that I check the position of the gear selector to make sure it's not locking out the movement of the key. I didn't know they were tied together. I have had some issues starting it lately due to shift position. This is an automatic. He also mentioned that he has seen where the gear selection strip has jammed thereby causing incorrect positioning of the selector. I already have a different ignition key than the other keys so maybe this was changed out before I bought the vehicle.
