The engine came out of a '97 that had a fire inside the so the dash and everything inside got melted down to nothing. I'v had intermittent failure of all gauges as well as intermittent failure of just certain gauges and am thinking my problems may be in the gauge cluster itself. Might want to check that out. Jeff Scrambler1987-at-aol.com wrote: >>Actually I am swapping the '97 engine into another Jeep and want the >>instrument cluster. I save them for on board air, but recently got myself a York twin cyl cheap and will be selling them. I let them go for $15 apiece. From: JeepNut Subject: Re: xj: The Big XJ Chill #2 Hi Marc / Admiral, I'd be curious to know what you find out about the Sanden clutches. I've been told by NAPA, Advance and Autodrone that they can't get clutches alone anymore. I found this out a couple of years ago it seems like to me... now they want $300 for a new compressor. Indeed to keep from looking totally stupid, I checked those websites just now and there is no part listed for clutch only. Just with the compressor. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jun 2005 23:16:38 -0500 From: "Okiebinder" Subject: xj: AC and lighting question Couple of questions for the XJ experts..... This is on a 87 with 4.0L. First the A/C question. The compressor quit engauging a couple of weeks ago on my XJ. Today I tried runing a jumper from the battery terminal and it came on fine. In looking through the owners manual and alway useless Chiltons manual, I could not see any referance to an A/C fuse or any information about the relays. Where is the fuse or relay for the compressor? I found the four blue relays on the passenger inner fender but did not know which one is the A/C relay, or how to test the relay. I did not see an fuse for the A/C in the fuse block under the dash. Thanks for any help on this.... it is getting rather warm here in Oklahoma. Second question. My parking light on the drivers side has a short on the ground wire. It is inside the bulb socket. Question is do the wires come out of the back of the socket? Are there terminals inside the socket? I can wiggle the black wire and the light turns on and back off again. I can pull it in and out about 1/8", but I dont want to pull it all the way out unless I should. Can I get a replacement socket or reconnet the wire to the current socket? Or if I buy a replacement is there a connetor that unplugs somewhere up the line, I did not see one? Worst case I guess would be to pick up a salvage socket and just cut the wires and tie it back in, but I would rather do this right. Thanks for your help. So far you guys have always been able to help me keep this great XJ on the road. David ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2113 *************************
