We're back from Vegas... almost didn't make it... wife had serious problems with her blood pressure and was hospitalized, almost wasn't able to fly home yesterday!!! The weather was terrible in Vegas, sunny and 90. ;) Happy to be back home, rain, green, clouds, 60's, did I mention the green? Also so happy to be back to drive our Jeeps and Diesel Benz! The rental car wasn't bad, but we were so happy to be sitting in that Cherokee when we got back. :) BTW, wagoneers.com/JohnMeister.com is still off line, something went sideways with the network connection in Boston, not sure how much longer it'll be... kind of nice not having to check email all the time. ;) of course you can still reach me at dieseljohn-at-comcast.net. john ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2005 19:57:04 -0400 From: Colucci B Subject: xj: A/C & Light Greetings To You David & The XJ World! Believe it or not there is no A/C fuse. There maybe a fusible link but I have never found one. I think the system relies on that relay a lot. Now the question is just because your compressor runs, are you getting cold air at the vents when you jump the clutch on the compressor to the battery? Remember the A/C controls have to be in the Max A/C position for this to work. I am betting it never gets cold which tells us the reason that you have no A/C clutch engagement when the wiring is connected in its normal fashion, is because you need a refill of freon. Your low pressure switch has cut out, as it should to protect your compressor. If memory serves me your A/C relay is the one closest to the firewall. You probably do not want to replace the entire lighting wire harness on your truck just to fix your marker light. The connector for the front lighting harness is on the driver's side of the truck in the engine bay next to the inner fender all at the bottom, kind of adjacent to the radiator and the air cleaner box. You will find it with a good flashlight. I would just go to the local auto parts store and get a new bulb socket. They come with a molded on pig tail that will have a couple of crimp on connectors for your existing wires. Just snip, strip, and crimp. Presto light. The only reason I would replace the entire lighting harness would be if I was making a show truck that was going to to be judged. Let's face it; these are twenty year old trucks. We do what we can to keep them running on the cheap. Until The Next Dimension, Admiral "Coluch." OH, wait a minute, i also have a complete 8.25 rear that i took out of my current XJ when building it. (open with 3.07 gears). that is available as well. thanks again, Jim! Neal A.
