Looking a van so I can afford to have the ZJ done for a while. Plan to do it myself with assistance from a trans friend. Will use upgrade parts in it since I usually abuse things. I get good mileage from it. Been about 18.5 in my surburban coummute which is never over about 50mph. I think it is just the 1-2 shift. Might just need that band adjusted to get by for a while. Allen John, just picked up another 300Dturbo for parts. Need a drivetrain? It is in GA. -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: john Reply-To: xj-at-digest.net To: xj-at-digest.net Subject: Re: xj: 42RE Date: Sat, 4 Feb 2006 09:51:28 -0800 (PST) >On Sat, 4 Feb 2006, Allen Zylstra wrote: > >-->I may have to try it. Trying to sell the '99 WJ laredo with the 4.0L. Asking $9,500, figure it's a little bit high for the market, buy less than $1k over what it should bring... leaving room for negotiating... looking at Kelley Blue book, prices range from: "retail" - $10,720 (excellent condition) "private party" - excellent - $8,675 "private party" - good - $8,040 "private party" - fair - $7,225 The WJ is in excellent condition, mileage is at 81k, "normal" is 78k. No defects or problems... it's in superb condition... So the question is, what is reality for the price of that WJ? - ----------------------------------------------------------- Of course I didn't look at NADA or Edmunds, the latter is not necessarily much of a guide. Have a friend with a '91 Grand Wagoneer facing the same kinds of issues, looked at it Sunday, it's got 161k and all four corners have minor body damage, not as pristine as I first thought... needs a lot of minor stuff... no way is the "book" going to help price that thing... would make a great 6.2 Diesel conversion rig... ;) Same question with my '92 xj sport... once it gets a good engine any ideas what it should bring? It's super clean... - ----------------------------------------------------------- My 300D seems to be riding well above the book value, amazing how folks seeing it in the ad for the willys want to know if I want to sell it. rofl... wish I had as many 124's sitting around as I do WJs. ;) Had one joker try to low ball me on the WJ this morning, the abrasive rascal even emailed in all caps. If you're going to try to get a bargain the least you can do is admit you're looking for one and making an offer in a polite manner. Doesn't hurt to ask, and as a seller it's nice to know you could dump it in a pinch if needed. Of course I'd rather give it away or part it out than sell it to someone like that. :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Feb 2006 12:25:03 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: xj: Re: advice me ! - xj lift On Mon, 6 Feb 2006, info wrote: >-->hello from greece again.
