Sometimes the speedometer would be bouncing of the high pen while I was going 5-10 MPH. The odometer would be spinning very quickly as well. Then while driving down the hi way it would stumble then sometimes die or if it kept running the speedo and all other gauges would shut down, including the odometer. When things were not right on the dash (speed, odo ect) the exhaust also had a "funny" smell. We changed all types of sensors over about a year time. Finally took it to a different shop and they said computer. I thought death sentence for the car, but they put a used one in for $85 and I drove that car for about 7 more years and sold it at 195000 miles and really never had another problem with that car. Don't know if that helps but the was my experience with similar symptoms. David On 6/29/06, Don Hansen wrote: > > As I was backing into the driveway awhile ago, the XJ stalled a couple of > times.
