A: If you do the AW4 on a 360, then have the 4.0L 6 cyl flexplate rebalanced for the V8 and use the 4.0L starter. Do an automatic on the 225 V6 (or find a bell for the Buick V6 to T5 from a 231 Skyhawk or something) as there isn't enough length in that early Jeepster for a V8 let alone a longer inline 6! I checked into a 200R4 to D20 (Advanced doesn't make an adapter) Maybe a 700R4 off a diesel GM with dual pattern is around? On Thu, 6 Jul 2006, Joe wrote: >-->I have a tf727 you can have for a mere $30. >-->Joe Hughes >-->Everett, WA Joe, thanx... will keep that in mind... might be a good solution, although I'm thinking of using my AW4... but will consider yours... BTW, there is a brown '83 Cherokee 4dr over on 116th by Silver Lake... it's got a 360/tf727 and a number of issues... sign says $400, but he'll take $150. I have pictures... will post after I get some homework done.... body is good, grille is fair... inside is sad... engine looks sad, but supposedly has good compression... good glass, etc... BUT that's not why I'm writing... I have a NO COST solution to getting SuperDawg into a powerplant... I plan on using the '91 Grand Wagoneer (called Omega because it's the last) as my daily driver.... it's getting all the goodies I've saved up for SuperDawg over these many years... The 6.2L Diesel/700r4 and one of my NP219s or maybe an NP208... either one will be fine in Omega, it's well distributed weight wise and doesn't need a full time setup like SuperDawg does... BUT, for SuperDawg I've got an AW4, an expensive custom adapter and another NP219... The AW4 will bolt up to the 360. From what I know they use that transmission in Asian sedans with V8s... Quite frankly I trust an AW4 much more than a TF727... And, it'll give the Dawg an overdrive... better economy even with the AMC nickel laden submersible device under the hood... ;) Besides, SuperDawg has a 4.10 rear end... and is light... this will be a rig where the 360 will actually feel like a respectable V8 instead of a gas guzzling heat generating boat anchor. :) So, I'll take the good 360 out of the '91 GW, use my good AW4, adapter and NP219. SuperDawg will also use the GW seats... win-win... :) As far as "computer" for the Aw4... my son figured out how to manually shift the AW4 with switches... mainly because I don't think I could build a computer to do it for me for a while... I know I can design one, and will later... simple compared to some of the stuff I've designed that is out there flying around right now. This will give SuperDawg a good driveline... and clean out some of my parts from curtis's shop... But wait... I could use the 4.2L and T-5 in the Jeepster... if I can get it to mate to the Dana 20... although that project can wait for a long, long time... I'd rather put one of the two TH400s in the Jeepster behind the 225 odd fire... just need time to get it all done... Anyway... the Dawg has prevailed in this dilema... in part thanx to one other Jeep maniac down under, who despite the multitude of pieces that SuperDawg has become, expressed a desire to buy it... and not with a meager offer either... So, my plan is the '91 GW with SuperDawg as my "toy"... if the CJ-2A and Jeepster can stick around that's fine... they'll have collectors plates, no annual tags and should be able to get cheap insurance... the only other issue is parking them... and that's easy too... I'll just slide the CJ-2a into the carport sideways where a couple of rollarounds are now, the Jeepster will fit in the tent out back with the front end of the Dawg... the GW will go in the carport and whatever is left sits out with the WJ. :) problem solved... more or less... :) ...until my wife hears about this... in which case the CJ-2A is the first out the drive, followed by the Jeepster... I have a hunch that the WJ will exit before the 300D... at 30mpg it's hard to part with that jewel. :) So, Curtis, hurry up with Omega... :) and SuperDawg... :) I've still got to swap the trans in the CJ-2A, install the top, and get it insured... on the Jeepster I have to fix the transmission and clean it up, bedline the interior and then have it painted... Terry in Australia did some photoshop magic: http://wagoneers.com/JEEPS/68-Jeepster/COLORS/baby_blue.jpg now, off to do my homework... statistics at the grad level is the hardest course I've ever taken, mainly because the teacher is making it that way... john http://messenger.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200471ave/direct/01/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jul 2006 06:20:27 -0400 From: "Don Hansen" Subject: xj: Re: fuel prices $2.68????
