That's the quick simple thing to do first. Oh man, what an awful , expensive time I've been having. Lemme explain.... I wqas heading back from Big Sur last Sunday - car is running SO smooth around 11:30 p.m., all warmed up and crusing up Hwy. 1 at about 55 and the spark cuts out of the engine. I didn't lose power - just obviously no spark like someone ripped out the coil wire. I got the car to the side of the road and, upon investigating, found I had poppe Engine Control fuse #1 (30 amps), also known as F15 for those of you with Chrysler wiring diagrams for a 92 XJ. I got a AAA tow from Carmel Chevron and lef tthe car there (questionnable decision), and got a rent a car for the 120 mile ride back to Berkeley. These guys tore my wiring harness to hell and after a week told me they think they found the problem - they fixed things by disconnecting and reconnecting the transmission control unit and it fired right up. Makes no sense at all... I paid the shop $530 for troubleshooting and the rentacar was another $500.00. Been a long time since I've been emptied out like this... I was caught in a bad spot 120 miles from home... So I went down yesterday and picked the car up and drove it backup here to Berkeley - about 120 miles - and the same thing happened again just as I got into town. I am so depressed. SOMETHING must be shorting to ground to take out a 30 amp main fuse. Can it be inthe TCU? Can it be the ECU? I replace the blown fuse with a good fuse, and the new fuse doesn't blow, but the starter won't crank. ANy chance anyone has ever dealt with anything like this? Is this symptomatic of an ECU with Alzheimer's? Thanks, Michael _________________________________________________________________ Don^Rt just search. Find. I have the street mapping as well as the Topo Maping. It is a great little GPS. It will not tell you were to go up you can put in the way points and build routes. It also allows searching for street addresses and points of interest. I also have a bike mount for mine for mountain or road biking. That is when the topo maps are very useful. Topos are also a lot of fun in the mountains of Colorado.
