(go figure, right? ;) we're taking a short trip down to vegas tomorrow and I want to play tunes on the plane... problem is I haven't had a pc setup to sync this ipod for months... been charging it on a linux system... when I plug it in it mounts, I unmount/eject it and things were ok... but now I can't shut it off... left it overnight and it drained the battery... I've tried to press menu, pause/play, center button, held my tongue just right and everything, but no reboot... can't take it apart to take the battery out... it's the black ipod 60gb... like I said, it was a very nice Christmas present... I wouldn't have bought it for myself... it's nice, but I have an mp3 player in my car and a portable cd/mp3 player... anyway, I think I need to reboot it... it's got some funky three button thing to reboot, and if I remember correctly it's not in the manual, which I can't find anyway... So, I guess if y'all are busy unwrapping THIS year's presents I'll just install itunes on a pc I don't care about and see if I can fix it... :) Merry Christmas... and remember the reason for the season is Jesus! (and for the record his birthday was most likely NOT in Decemeber, more likely August or September... of course his birthday isn't as important as what happened during the Passover...) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://freegift.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Dec 2006 23:14:00 -0600 From: "David Bierschank" Subject: Re: xj: OT - ipod crisis... John, I believe you cycle the hold switch on and off then to the "non-hold" position. Press and hold the Menu and the center button for several seconds (maybe 5-6), then the apple will appear on the screen letting you know you have completed the reboot. I hope that works for you. By the way Merry Christmas and thank you for all the work you put into this list, David Bierschank On 12/25/06, john wrote: > > ok, this is LAST year's Christmas present, but I've confused it... > (go figure, right? ;) > > we're taking a short trip down to vegas tomorrow and I want to play > tunes on the plane... > > problem is I haven't had a pc setup to sync this ipod for > months... been charging it on a linux system... when I plug > it in it mounts, I unmount/eject it and things were ok... > > but now I can't shut it off... left it overnight and it > drained the battery...
