He's going to put the stock rims on it... and he didn't say anything about painting them black... oh yeah, and he's going to go to college too... I'm not getting anything near what it's worth, but that's ok, I don't have to fix anything else and getting what I put into it... Talked to Curtis... this summer on SuperDawg... if not, he'll reassemble it and I'll hire my other buddy to finish it. I'll be in grad school until Feb 2008, unless of course I really blow this quarter... and that is a possibility, I'm losing momentum... ;) but anyway, won't have time to do my own swapping... Haven't heard from the other black hole, I mean shop... the Willys was supposed to be running this weekend... it's after the 20th, so he must have made rent somehow, so worse case scenario the CJ-2A will be done by Feb 20. ;) I looked at two Diesel KJs... sat in one... didn't start it... didn't drive it... price was $25k. Those things are not only ugly, but they're uncomfortable and cheap looking too... not to say that when the price is right one won't find it's way to my stable. :) It seems that they don't hold their resale value at all... have seen a lot of really cheap gas versions out there... Anyway, Shadowfax is back as the daily driver... parked Omega for my son's return in March. I may drive it Saturday to school, have two weeks to insure it... ;) The plan for the fleet is: '99 WJ, '91 300D, and the '83 J10 and probably the '48 CJ-2A... the trailer will probably stick around as well... the cj doesn't really count as a vehicle, and having the trailer around is a good thing... My wife is back in SD taking care of her mom... she was talking about how nice Iowa was... huh? say what? I have a feeling that my wife is finally tired of "crowded, rainy Seattle", (those are her words). She noted how much house we could buy back there... and how easy it was to drive... I think the sunshine is getting to her actually... ;) I'm thinking that St. Louis might work... or even Iowa, if they only didn't salt their roads... ;) Five more years and I can retire, we can sell this place and move back east where houses are affordable... the equity we have will give us enough to buy a modest home outright.... retirement has immediately become a possibility. :) I'll have my masters degree and should be able to find a college or university to teach at, could still travel around teaching Unix and Linux... sounds like a good plan... I wonder if my wife will persist in this thinking after she gets back and sees how green things are here and how beautiful the mountains are... ;) Let's see... if I use the '99 WJ to pull the trailer, the J10 can pull the CJ-2A... maybe I'll just sell the Benz at that point... ;) or have it shipped, or have one of my kids drive that... or we could make a couple of trips... (Here I am planning a move and I should be writing my thesis... ;) Hey, I'm looking on the bright side... I may finally get a garage! :) I will miss the mountains... but not the traffic... the rain isn't so bad, after all, it only rains for nine months... and then not every day, some days it's just overcast... ;) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Jan 2007 21:02:16 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: xj: camo XJ for sale my son is going to sell his '90 XJ... http://wagoneers.com/XJ/rigs/camo-90/ he's also going to sell the '83 GMC Jimmy with the 6.2L Diesel, the XJ is here, you can have it now... the jimmy is in Tucson. john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2007 07:47:20 -0600 From: "Allen Zylstra" Subject: RE: [db] RE: fsj: RE: xj: popcorn poll :) Move to Iowa and buy a farm. Now the commercial corporate farms have there own. IA is becoming more industrialized due to the supply of cheap labor and low cost living. The little town I lived near had a population of 60 and two streets. One was paved. The only business was a small implement dealer that sold Deutz tractors. Interesting diesel desgin. The larger town nearby had 4 industrial shops building implement and tractor parts that were shipped worldwide. That town has double in size in the last ten years. Most of the farmers that were bought old work in one of the factories.
