Good idea with the new springs as the old ones are probably sagging so blocks and shackles wouldn't give you the full benefit of a lift. Are you planning to use new lift springs in front also? Sounds like you and I have the same plans, but I was thinking 3-4" of lift for 31s. I have never had a lifted XJ, but my 86 2 door rubbed alot with 30s. They would rub going over bumps if I had rear seat passengers. I did a three inch "budget" lift on my XJ for 31's, new 3" front springs, shackle in the rear... can't remember if I did an add-a-leaf or a block, check with Central 4wd, they're the ones that did it... and a set of shocks... Installed it was around $300, maybe closer to $400. I've done the Old Man Emu lift kits, but they're only 2", and they've changed the spring rates on the kit so the ride is much, much harsher... if you can see if they offer softer rates, got that way. The OME kit is superb either way. john On Wed, 7 Feb 2007, Bob Carlson wrote: >-->I am beginning to look at lifting my 94 Cherokee mildly, possibly with a >-->2-3" lift as I am looking to run ~31" tires. It allows me to run 31" tires with just enough clearance. I have Doetsch DT3000 Shocks. I would recommend this kit for the ride quality alone. I didn't want a ride too hard like my '87 XJ with budget lift had. I wouldn't want to go any shorter than 3-1/2", 31", but any higher requires a lot more fender work. I did have problems with the front LCA bushings. After several phone calls, someone at RE admitted that they had redesigned the LCA's due to the bushing flaw. Because of their shotty attitude, I will definitely carefully consider whether or not I will send them my business in the future. They would do absolutely nothing to help me out except SELL ME the replacement parts to upgrade my existing LCSs to the current design. A year later, I took my rig into 4WheelParts to have an alignment done. I was told that after shimming to the limits, they were unable to get my alignment exactly right because one of my LCAs was not longer the same length as the other. The rubber on one side must have compressed more than the other. I now get a little wear one one front tire, but I can deal with that. They sway bar disconnects were real junk too, but it looks like they've gone to a different design. I didn't even bother complaining about that after my experience with the LCAs. I just bought another set from a different vendor. If I decide to swap out the LCSs, I'll probably do the same. They do sell complete kits. I did need a SYE for my install. The instructions were good. Now that I've recounted my experience I guess I may not recommend Rubicon Express at all. Well, maybe their springs. - -Loeb > Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2007 11:07:45 -0600 > From: "Bob Carlson" > Subject: xj: lifting thoughts, kits, etc. > > I am beginning to look at lifting my 94 Cherokee mildly, possibly with a > 2-3" lift as I am looking to run ~31" tires.
