The reservoir is in the bumper on the passenger's side (a stupid placement, because the slightest hit and it splits) If the vacuum to the controls is weak for any other reason, the valve may open, but the air flow door won't (and that stupid foam seal can drop onto the core, further blocking air flow.) Maybe I just want a nice modern Jeep that has all the nice new things... This GW just hasn't won my heart... I wish the WJ had better visibility, and better gas mileage... speaking of gas mileage, first tank in the GW... 10.45 mpg... I think it needs a tune up. :) The Willys actually started and moved under it's own power, waiting for rad hoses, rear driveshaft and the front fender and hood to be reattached. Trying to decide what to do on the '91 GW... for about $1,200 I can make it very nice... not sure if it'll help it sell any faster than the way it is right now... lots of nice things about this GW... main thing is an absolutely rust free body... factory sunroof... working rear wiper even! Been watching the '91's on ebay and autotrader, prices are all over the place... any thoughts? http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/OMEGA-side.jpg other pictures: (laptops are under test for battery life under xp and suse linux) http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2007/02-Feb-11-Jeeps-n-local-scenes/ALL.html ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2007 23:12:18 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: xj: '97 Cherokees? found a '97 xj, CHEROKEE "HIGH" COUNTRY... what's that? leather? it's got an engine miss... About 5 years ago I did a lift using full length 3.5" add a leaf in the rear and 3" front springs, both from Rusty's. I have had no problems at all running 31's. For shocks I used '89 Wrangler shocks in the front with bar pins pressed in (3"-4" longer than stock XJ shocks) and '89 F150 shocks in the rear (also about 3" -4" longer than stock and you have to reverse the bushings). I also used MJ bump stops in the rear, which are a lot taller than XJ unit, but are a direct bolt on. I built some small brackets to lower the sway bar and space it about 1" forward so that it would clear the new front springs. I had to use Wrangler passenger side emergency brake cables, as mine were streched tight, and a wrangler rear brake flex hose. The front brake hose lines are fine with no changes. Since I am using the stock wheels (lots of back-spacing), I had to add a washer below the steering stops so that the tires would not rub the LCA at full lock. One thing I like about the AAL's is that it does not mess up your driveshaft angles. When I did the lift, I also traded in axles out of a junker 4 cylinder automatic XJ to get the factory set up 4.56 gears...very nice...This rig now has over 251,000 miles on it and everything still works...power windows and locks are slow, but the important stuff still goes fast.... - --Kurt ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2007 09:01:59 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: xj: Re: [db] the gangs all here... well almost...
