I think I'll test drive a '96, see if I can find a Country model. I really like the looks of the '97 and up XJ, but this is the 2nd or 3rd I've checked out and not been happy. Most of them show up as a problem prior to 36K or so (just prior to ending the 3/36 warranty), but I did see one that didn't show up 'til 80K (lucky for the customer it was one of our "8/80 certified" used cars!). Last week at the "Regional awards" they put us up at the Waldorf in NYC and had a gala event in the "Empire Room".......I'd had a few when to my surprise I was awarded the "Parts Manager of the Year" award for the "Northeast Business Center"........I had just been asking such "annoying" questions of the "big wigs" during cocktails and dinner as "Why did you discontinue the XJ?" and "Why didn't we put the AW4 in everything?" etc........none of them bothered to respond of course......same guys I'd been pestering handed me the award later......oops!
