The most courteous drivers can be found in Portland, Ore.; Pittsburgh; the Seattle-Tacoma area; St. Louis; and Dallas-Fort Worth, the survey found. Portland drivers were the least likely to see other motorists tailgating on the roadways, and St. Louis motorists were the least likely to swear at another driver, according to the survey. Minneapolis-St. Paul was rated the most courteous city in 2006 but fell to No. 12 this year. The most frequent cause of road rage cited in the survey was impatient motorists. Drivers also said road rage can stem from poor driving in fast lanes and driving while stressed, frustrated or angry. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 May 2007 16:42:14 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: RE: xj: Eric's '79 Cherokee, 2dr, 4spd, ID... I am apparently the second owner, and the estimated miles are around 114,000 +/-. The speedo didn't work when I bought it. The interior is clean and all original - I took the back seat out so my two labs have a little more room. The ceiling 'cardboard' was broken and sagging - so I removed it - but still have that in the garage. There is a bit of rust behind the rear wheels, and one "dent" on the rear right side. All the chrome looks to be in really good shape, and the floor liner (plastic) does have some cracks, and the 4wd shift boot will need to be re-attached to the floor opening (rusted out bolt locations) as well. The interior has NO extras...very minimal except for a cassette player built into the radio. The window cranks needs some work, and the rear window de-fogger / de-icer does not work, nor does the switch that (maybe??) lowers the rear window. The window washer does not work wither - all old wiring issues. The biggest issue is the motor - it runs pretty well, but one cylinder is at 90%...needs a ring job. I re-built the front end so it drives really well no (ball joints, tie rods etc.), so now it is a smooth driver (for a FSJ). Nice truck..fun to drive... - -----Original Message----- From: john [mailto:john-at-wagoneers.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2007 3:42 PM To: Kevin Cc: Eric Petersen; xj-list; full size jeep list Subject: Re: xj: Eric's '79 Cherokee, 2dr, 4spd, ID... Back about 10-15 years ago I liked driving in Dallas. It was very aggressive tight diving that had a rhythm and flow. Now it is still very aggressive and tight, however it just stops very so often for no apparent reason. Driving 70-80 mph then all of the sudden break lights everywhere. 1/4 mile later..... no traffic at all. I liked it better when it was more of "an ever flowing river". Very happy to not live there and have to drive in that everyday. - -- David Bierschank Okiebinder okc67mustang-at-gmail.com okiebinder-at-cox.net ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 23:16:42 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: xj: gas/diesel On Wed, 16 May 2007, Marc Z wrote: > -->Gas up to $2.96, diesel steady at $2.67. > -->Marc Z. say what? gas is 3.43 for the lowest grade, 3.66 for the best, Diesel is at 3.09... where are you? john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2579 *************************
