I drove in Austria for the first time last New Years... for the first hour or so I was wondering why all the cars were flashing me.. "ah!" *switches on lights* I can understand the change, less impedance on your view. Same rule in Sweden AFAIR... hence not being able to turn off the sidelights in older Saabs and Volvos.
