I just figured out my mileage in the Spirit over the past 2 tankfuls since I replaced the needle/seat in the infamous Carter BBD compu-carb. Averaged 22 mpg on gas and I haven't had time to finish dialing it in yet (beats the 13 mpg it was getting before and it doesn't stall now!) Going to do the valve cover and adjust the carb a bit tomorrow as well as pull the BA 10/5 from my Comanche and stick in the AW4 (FINALLY!) Once the MJ patient is stable (also swapping steering column and harness and maybe a Hydroboost brake setup from a '79 Towncar), I will attempt to tackle the AW4 in the Spirit and EFI swap! I just bought, but have not yet picked up a use Yakima roof rack. It comes with Q towers and if I put the info in Yakima's web site it shows getting the Q30 clips, however my XJ has the chrome drip rail. Question: Can I use the Q tower and Q30 clips with that drip rail, or do I need to pick up a set for towers designed for the rain guard? I am not sure that the chrome piece is actually a rain guard..... I figured I could call/email Yakima, but they would probably know a lot less than this group...... On February 28, 1892 Imperial German Patent #67207 was issued for an internal combustion engine using compression ignition. On Feburary 17, 1897 a 250mm x 400mm engine produced 13.1kw of power during a successful test. Even this early prototype was 26.2% efficient! This was a significant milestone in engine technology. During that time a steam engine was at best about 18% efficient! On July 16, 1895 US Patent #542,846 was issued on the Diesel Engine. In spite of it's efficiency and potential Rudolf and his business enterprise was in serious financial straits and on September 29, 1913 while crossing the English Channel Rudolf threw himself into the frigid waters. What is tragic is that with the onset of World War I his invention became immensly popular and continues to be popular even today. ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Mar 2008 09:50:53 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: [db] Re: xj: Re: Diesel prices worldwide?a think it could be filtered out? ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Tue, 18 Mar 2008, Paul Masterson wrote: # I looked into using used oil (since I have an unlimited stream) but got # scared off by the abrasive particles. # # # ----- Original Message ----- From: "john" # To: # Cc: "diesel-benz list" # Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2008 9:27 AM # Subject: [db] Re: xj: Re: Diesel prices worldwide?a # # # > I'll have about 3 or 4 gallons of used motor oil shortly.... # > # > I wonder...
