Interesting tidbit in history: One hundred years ago, on May 26, 1908, the first major oil strike in the Middle East took place as engineers working for British entrepreneur William Knox D'Arcy and led by George B. Reynolds hit a gusher more than 1,100 feet below ground in Masjid-i-Suleiman, Persia (Iran). In 1898, Rudolf Diesel was granted patent #608,845 :) The last 100 years or so has been quite a wild ride... The book of Daniel has a prophecy that seems to fit: "many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." (Daniel 12:4) We've become highly mobile and dependent on oil... Israel is back in their land after 1,900 years of exile and the Muslim world is rich from oil and hating Israel and the US more than ever. We're trying to move from oil to food based fuel for the gasoline engines that's causing a lot of issues, whether real or fabricated for profit, it's still resulting in the same... increased prices... I would think the western economy is at the mercy of oil prices and we're in deep trouble... This scenario can't end well... ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthethics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 26 May 2008 14:08:33 -0400 From: "Christopher Wilson" Subject: Re: xj: the last 100 years. I had to take a short trip to the dark side today. I needed a 5th wheel hauler to move a trailer I just got (temporary storage to put all my excess parts and auto chemicals into as well as building supplies for my cabin) and the guy who was supposed to tow it for me flaked. (His first complaint was bad tires, which I agreed with and changed by hand last night with some spares I had off a Jeep. Then it was lack of lights which I fixed in 5 minutes. Then it was too dark, so I agreed to wait till this AM. Got there today and he pretended to not be home. I wasted the day trying to rent a rig (on a holiday) and finally gave up and went home (30 miles one way) and scoped out Craig's list. I found a 5th wheel truck that just happened to belong to someone I worked with at another store. So now I am the "proud" owner of a heavy 3/4 ton '81 Chev with 5th wheel and a 454/TH400 under the hood. Took out the old hose (man it was COVERED in old oil + dirt), chopped up the bits I needed and clamped it all together.. back boosting nicely now. Also fixed a coolant leak in a metal hose with JB weld.. gotta love that stuff. So, I have noise from the rear (ooh matron), kinda sounds like a rear wheel bearing, its at its worst on a smooth road doing 45mph, it stops when turning right, hoping its not the diff.. Whats the best way to diagnose a shot wheel bearing? Grab wheel at 12 + 6 / 3 + 9 o'clock and rock it?
