From: john Subject: Re: xj: Nice looking engine... every single person I know that has done a stroker has had failure, issues, problems and loss of economy... not a single success story have I heard... :) of course doing a conversion, oh, say like a 6.2L Diesel in place of an AMC 360 V8 isn't a piece of cake either, but so far it IS economical... went from 10 mpg to 24 mpg... I thought about getting another XJ, but the best I've gotten in town with one is about 17, and 21 on the highway... converting one to Diesel is still one of those DayDreams I have... :) _________________________________________________________________ It^Rs easy to add contacts from Facebook and other social sites through Windows Live^Y Messenger. I have to find the other end of the wire that controls the a/c clutch solenoid and then make a bracket for the cruise control linkage, and of course the other end of that wire... that may take a few weeks. ;) had the a/c system charged up today... well, actually over the last three days... frankenstein systems are always fun... custom hoses, adapting pumps and brackets basically from three different vehicles... an '83 3/4T pickup, an '85 Blazer and of course the '91 Grand Wagoneer.... of course some of the parts could have come right off an XJ cherokee too... :) omega has simmered down after I replaced that hose going into the lift pump... starting and stopping better... running well, but still lots of vibration... I need to get a fuel gauge on the aux tank... haven't filled up since we got back from portland... still need to find rubber mounts to set that engine on... and also a short a/c belt, or a big hammer to increase clearance on the inner fender... when I turn right the engine tips and the a/c pulley grinds against the fender. :) oh yeah, also cancelled the auction today on omega... and have given up on the idea of a gas mini-suv type toy, except maybe as a "spare tire" for omega. :) the xj may end up in my possession... a friend needs the fuel system for one of his frankenstein projects... haven't seen the jeep for a couple of years, but if it's straight I'll scout out a Diesel for it, if my neighbor will let me store it on his farm for a bit... suspect he will... so, keep your eyes open for a suitable Diesel for an XJ... thinking 2.5L TD with the a/t... :) ah yes, dreams of (more) Diesels... as far as that '53 NYr, too much work for me... guess the guy got it for the hemi... hate to see old cars like that scrapped though... hope someone rescues it... ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Thu, 5 Jun 2008, jasonbassett-at-juno.com wrote: # Why??!
