I went into the driver's door, found the connector. Then found a similar connector in my horde, made an "insert"... fiddled with two different sets of relays until I hit on the right combination... then programmed the alarm and it's working... has a few extra features I hadn't expected, but will live with... (locks the doors when the engine is running... not really needed, I don't go places where I need to lock the doors while I'm in the vehicle... ;) So, that leaves getting the A/C and cruise working and the motor mount redesign. a/c shouldn't be too hard... cruise is just a bracket (I hope)... found a guy scrapping a 6.2, so mounts are only a few weeks out... :) only got about 16 or so in town again... too much weight, too many lights, too heavy of a foot... ;) will probably take the 300D to Boise... tomorrow night I need to lube the speedo cable on it. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2008 13:01:08 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: xj: another adventure commences... looks like we'll be heading to boise this weekend... will be teaching a SuSE Linux Sys Admin class there next week... not taking the 300d, despite it's 35 to 40 mpg freeway mileage... not taking the grand wagoneer with the 6.2L Diesel, despite it's 24 mpg freeway... but taking the '99 WJ with the 4.7L V8... that gets about 17 to 19 on the freeway... why? because it's got the most comfortable seats... smoothest ride... and everything works... if the seats work for my wife's back then I will be upgrading omega with leather WJ seats (from the cloth ones I have now). omega isn't quite ready... got the alarm/door locks working last night, but no cruise and the a/c isn't activating correctly... and I want to reengineer the motor mounts... getting close to getting the Grand Wagoneer all setup the way I want... only got about 16 mpg in town though... :( 5,600lbs, very hilly terrain, untimed lights, lots of traffic and a heavy right foot... stand by for pictures... :) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2008 09:37:42 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: xj: Joe Btfsplk for years, listening to some of the stories on the lists about troubles and problems... traffic accidents unfolding in front of them, green cars, strange animals appearing on the road causing roll overs, floods, amazing disasters both natural and human induced unfolding right in front of them, dump trucks losing their load on new radiators at traffic lights, hit and run maniacs, cops harrassing them, and so on... Anyway, I've had in the back of my mind this particular character in the comic strips from the '60s... couldn't remember his name... until this morning... A friend at work reminded me of this today. Does anyone remember Joe Btfsplk from Lil' Abner? A dark cloud followed him wherever he went. And all this time we've been blaming Mr. Murphy some of this... Joe Btfsplk : http://www.lil-abner.com/joealb.html http://www.lil-abner.com/familyalbum2.html Thankfully, no one on this list has it quite as bad as poor Joe... ;) btw, got my alarm system to quit locking me in... ;) next, a/c functioning (not a high priority, it's 57 outside), cruise and then of course the motor mounts... :) taking the WJ to boise... 8 hrs in Omega the Thunder Brick isn't really an option at this point... need the a/c and cruise at the minimum. ;) Would love to take the 300D at 35+ mpg, but those seats would cripple us... so, the WJ with it's well supported leather seats wins again... :) (Need to get a pair of tan leather WJ seats for Omega. ;) I hear there is sunshine in Boise... not sure if we're really ready for it. :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2810 *************************
