I have always liked the way Gremlins looked... seriously... ever since they were introduced in the early '70s I've liked them. Never had one, had friends with them and recall all the mechanical issues... anyway, found out about the Eagle Kammback... looks like a stretched Gremlin in the back... I find it quite cool... and it's 4x4... and if I get one, it'll be a Diesel... a quick search pointed me to two possible project rigs... both with 4speeds... I have a t-5 from SuperDawg that could be used... prefer an AT though... there is one with a 151 (I4) that needs a trans, that would be the easiest to fix, just swap in the T-5 from SuperDawg... Longer term, I'm thinking Mercedes Diesel... Anyone know of a bell housing adapter/clutch setup to drop either the 240D or a 3.0L I5 engine and have it mate to a T-5 or an AW4? :) I don't know if any of these old Eagles will roost in the Snohomish Monster Garage or not, NOT even going to ask my wife, I know she'll take one look at either toss her cookies or just say no... pretty sure my son will not assist in this insanity either... so this shall be a clandestine popcorn project... ;) Just me and a couple hundred of my closest gear head friends. ;) jim, why do you do these things to me? ;) You know I have no will power, no common sense, no memory of the pain of AMC... yet you persist in tempting me with these oddball project ideas... A Diesel powered Eagle Kammback 4x4, with leather heated WJ seats and setup to run on WVO and BioDiesel... ah yes, I can see it now... Oh yeah, one thing I learned, the Kammbacks came with the ultra quiet and plush package... if it hasn't molded by now, it'll be good for the Diesel conversion... thinking a 240D I4 transplant for simplicity... we'll see... I may take one look at the cars in person and toss my cookies... ;) maybe I should just buy the car and make it a trailer to haul veggie oil... In the meantime, having a blast just thinking about it... btw, anyone know of a good bluetooth headset that will pair to two phones? (only need to talk on one at a time). have a blackberry 8830 and a centro (at&t and verizon) the jawbone and plantronics 640 both have "issues"... the jawbone ear attachment failures and will only pair with ONE phone... the 640 is over 3 years old and worn out. :( later, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Aug 2008 19:36:41 -0700 From: Jim Blair Subject: Re: xj: Re: xj defective cam years Only AMC I-6 cam issues were with the pre 4.0L engines and that was mostly cam walk. Rebuilt motors are having trouble with cams due to lack of zinc in the oil. I'll run break in oil when I do mine. From: "Christopher Wilson" Subject: Re: xj: Re: xj defective cam years I've got a 96XJ with 175k on the clock. No cam issues that I know of or have ever heard about in a Jeep I6. _________________________________________________________________ Talk to your Yahoo! Friends via Windows Live Messenger. The cam is in the middle of the block, just like the 4.0 if I'm not mistaken... I'm assuming you have the head off at this point, right? anyone able to offer some help on this? please cc lee25-at-netzero.net thanx, john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Sun, 31 Aug 2008, Leotta wrote: # Hello, # Could you please help me? # I have a 92 Jeep 4 cyl 2.5 L .I have a bad hydrolic lifter. # I cannot decompress the lifter so that i can get the lifter extracting tool on it to pull it up out of the engine.
