I might end up letting them do it yet... I went to tackle it this evening.. so off with the wheel (can't believe they put plastic chrome COVERS on the wheel bolts.. ), spent an hour getting the drum off (my new slide hammer did the job!), drained the diff, I really really really don't like the smell of gear oil (really!). So, I found the little bolt that holds the shaft in the spider gears. Its a 1/4" affair.. but its a splined/hex/torx type bolt head?? Agh! Put the diff cover back on and tidied up .. frustrating that I have to wait till tomorrow.. is this something that the previous owner has put in or is it the standard? I was lead to believe it was an 8mm bolt head...?
