My 93 has a crack there, a friend's daughter's 98 has one there. The effort required to clean and weld it is pretty high. Sure it could be done, but you'd have an incredibly hard time doing it on the vehicle. After you've taken it off, you might as well bolt on a good new one, they're under $100. But don't listen to me, mine's had a leak for a year and a half :) On Fri, Oct 24, 2008 at 05:39:54PM -0400, Don Hansen wrote: > Damn, John, you're starting to sound like Jimbo!!!! > > BTW, yesterday I noticed that my daughter's 95 XJ, 4.0, has a crack in the > exhaust manifold where the 2 pipes meet. I've got two headers for a 4.0 laying around... can check to see if they're reinforced... I know EXACTLY where they're at... they were put outside while I finished construction, can see them out there... in fact, if I dump the pictures from my camera from this morning I could show you right where they're at... but didn't take a close up so there is no real point. ;) sound like Jimbo??? who, me??? :) I think I have been changing my mind more often and earlier on the internet than Jim has... so that means Jim sounds more like me. ;) speaking of which, haven't heard much from him lately... is Jim tiring of this game already? :) imagine how boring things would be if Jim and I actually had money and time... money to buy already built vehicles, or the time to build our own instead of just dreaming and running paper exercises. ;) I suppose if I just put a decent stereo in my blazer and fixed all the cheap broken plastic stuff on the dash I might be ok... too many ideas, so little time... less money... ;) maybe I should just start riding my bike... I either need a stronger cup of coffee or a nap... did I just mention exercise? ;) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://gunbanobama.com/ http://freegift.com - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 24 Oct 2008, Don Hansen wrote: # Damn, John, you're starting to sound like Jimbo!!!! # # BTW, yesterday I noticed that my daughter's 95 XJ, 4.0, has a crack in the # exhaust manifold where the 2 pipes meet. Really unique describes BMax's new '63 Scout 80 with a Ford 250/C4 (2wd) swapped in. Trying to figure out the best way to "upgrade" it for the best bang for the buck. I figure CJ7 Widetrack axles would work in place of the D27s currently in it (with the increased strength, tighter turning radius AND braking power!) Probably an early Bronco Spicer 20 tcase would be the best swap to get it to 4x4.
