Then they pay you money equal to what they think it's worth. Anything from East of the BC/ Alberta border is usually riddled with rust moth eggs. (many in BC are that way too if close to water or used downtown in winter) Jeep stuff is usually way crazy priced up there. If the vehicle coming down has a1 as the first character of the VIN, it will be allowed in. 2 means it has to be stripped down to bare frame by state patrol to ensure other numbers are not hiding from stolen in the US parts. (up till a year or so ago you could transfer a vehicle in Alberta with just a hand written bill of sale. MANY stolen US vehicles were transferred this way) Jim Blair, Lynnwood, WA '87 Comanche, '83 Jeep J10, '84 Jeep J10 - ---------------------------------------- > Date: Mon, 9 Feb 2009 21:46:05 -0800 > From: john-at-wagoneers.com > To: carnuck-at-hotmail.com > CC: xj-at-digest.net; fsj-at-digest.net > Subject: RE: fsj: Re: [db] cj-10a / YJ / GW > > I'd swap the D44 for the Dana 70... it's not a wide track, it's beyond wide trac... ;) > it's almost as wide as the freakin' street... almost 8'... someone said it was a dually axle, > don't know... but I'm sure it could be narrowed... > > was going to work a deal with a guy in BC for parts of the CJ-10A but we just couldn't > make it work... he only wanted the cab and the rest of the jeep is pretty worthless... > I want the 3.3L Diesel/trans/xfr case... willing to sell the cj-10a without that for $3k. > complete for 4.5K... he's researched cj-10s and realizes the price is right on, but doesn't > want anything but the cab... not even the grille/fenders/hood. :) > > anyway, as a result I did find some jeeps up in BC I like... ;) talked to customs about > how to bring them down here... things are cheaper up there, did you know that? :) > just need to have the EPA/DOT stickers and I can register them here... also found out > the canadians don't have titles, just registration... weird... does that mean they don't > own their rigs, just rent them? > > I found a fairly decent '89 GW down here... the guy wants too much for me to be interested, but > may work a trade with him for a laptop... pix at: > http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/rigs/1989_Grand_Wagoneer/ > > john > > > > ----- > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold > http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://freegift.com > http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us > ----------------------------------------------------------------------- _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live^Y: E-mail. The 3.3L Nissan Diesel has all of about 80 hp... which means in a race with it attached to a skateboard an old 240D would be showing off its taillights to me. ;) The YJ would be the easiest transplant. The XJ would be a nice finished product but a bit more work. The SJ would be an easy transplant but the word plant might indicate it's eventual velocity... doubt it would escape the driveway... The J10 wouldn't be a good choice, I plan to use it as a truck. That means that a Wrangler of some kind, if one can be found with a dead engine or cheaply enough, might make a great Diesel 4x4 daily driver, WVO barrel chasing Jeep... Or, I can hope someone will just buy the CJ-10A outright and complete and I'll be done with this insanity... or at least moving along to the next adventure. :) Oh, tried to put insurance on the '86 CJ-10A... my insurance company won't insure it... they didn't even know what it was... ;) broadform is an option, $200/6mos, might drop my other coverage even... john -o|||||o- 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 15 mpg 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV247 1991 Mercedes 300D (124) 29 mpg 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (Shadowfax) in work: 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside (SJ) 14 mpg 4.2/T-5/NP208 (Superdawg) 1975 Jeep J10 long bed (SJ) hydraulic dump trailer 1986 CJ-10A 3.3L Diesel/AT - for sale - $4000 -o|||||o- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html son's vehicles (the javelin is gone!) 1967 Jeep J100 (SJ)Panel 232/T-85/D20 1985 Mercedes 300D (123) 24 mpg 3.0L Turbo Diesel/AT ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://freegift.com http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of xj-digest V1 #2953 *************************
