Looking back at all the FSJs I've had, the darker colors really do look great... on the big jeeps, I don't think a dark color on the cj-10a would work well... hey, maybe my favorite color, LIGHT IVORY CREME, just like my first car, a '68 Mustang, or later, my '88 XJ Wagoneer... not sure who the guy is with the hair... seems kind of familar to me... ;) http://www.wagoneers.com/fotos/johns-cars/68-Mustang-on-DaytonaBeach-Aug - -1975-a.jpg john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 2009 12:03:56 -0700 (PDT) From: diesel john Subject: xj: Re: [CJ-10List] Re: what color for the tug? - -J- the consensus is this is a great color! What's the NAPA code? :) it is very nice looking, have any larger images? I'm looking through other pictures in that directory, but they're all thumbnail sized... :) http://jeepsunlimited.com/storyimages/NewProjectPics230.jpg http://jeepsunlimited.com/storyimages/NewProjectPics229.jpg http://jeepsunlimited.com/storyimages/NewProjectPics232.jpg the fact that it's a flat encourages me to spray it myself, maybe even from a rattle can... hurry up, find that napa code. :) I'll run out and do it this weekend... can't be any worse than what I have now. :) I need to finish the tug project up, getting very close... my daughter is getting married in August so there will be a lot of running around taking place... AND, I may have found a nice Cummins 6AT for my '83 J10 Stepside... while the tug is very cool, my left arm and the door just aren't getting along very well... I like the short wheelbase, the height and the coolness factory, but the reality is my '83 J10 is a much more civilized, comfortable and just as cool as the tug... so the plan at this point is to get the J10 back together with the 4.2/T5 running 3.54s and get the body work and interior all setup the way I want, then swap in the 6AT with a solid AT, get it dialed in and then sell the tug and the trailer... but realistically that won't take place until probably Fall of 2010. So I'll probably keep using the tug through the winter and spring of 2010... unless of course all the pieces fall in place earlier and I get the J10 setup with a solid Diesel drivetrain earlier... there is always the possibility of keeping both toys... ;) thanx, john -o|||||o- city/hwy engine/trans/xfr - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1986 CJ-10A 20/? mpg 3.3L Diesel/tf727/np208 (the tug) 1991 Mercedes 300D (124) 29/39 mpg 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (Shadowfax) 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 14/21 mpg 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV247 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1975 Jeep J10 long bed (SJ) hydraulic dump trailer - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside (SJ) 14/19 mpg 4.2/T-5/NP208 (Superdawg)- under construction - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1980 Jeep J10 (SJ) parts donor for superdawg... 4.2/T-18/NP208 1967 Jeep J100 Panel (SJ) for sale 232/T85/dana 20 - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -o|||||o- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Wed, 15 Apr 2009, -J- wrote: # John, # # I painted my CJ-6 flat Desert Tan. I actually considered spraying it with actual military surplus tan but I found out that the Humvee paint has some radar resistant material that is very hazardous and requires a fully enclosed paint booth with air tank set up for the painter. I was spraying in my buddies garage in a homemade paint boot with some standard air masks so that was out. I don't remember the paint code any more but I still really like the color. If you are really interested I could find the code for you. I have it written down some where. # # ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Apr 2009 12:04:38 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: xj: RE: what color for the tug? sounds like a scout color. :) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 http://creationwiki.org http://johnmeister.com http://wagoneers.com http://fotomeister.us - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ On Wed, 15 Apr 2009, Tesar Landon-R16884 wrote: # I think a light orange with a little pastel in it...not sure what the # name of the color is # # - L # # -----Original Message----- # From: owner-xj-at-digest.net [mailto:owner-xj-at-digest.net] On Behalf Of # diesel john # Sent: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 5:20 PM # Subject: xj: what color for the tug? # # thinking about having the '86 cj-10a painted... one color... # maaco has a sale, they do reasonable work for the price and will be # better than my rattle can work... # # in fact, I noticed my rattle can on the back half is a significant # different # shade of white to the front... the entire jeep needs a good paint # job... # # so, what color? # # keep it white, but one white?
