Everything is very nice and clean with this Jeep and it drives very well. The only "known" issue is with the A/C. It has the dual climate controls. The issue is the A/C blows nice and cool on the passenger side, but the drivers side is like the heater is on. I know on the older cars there was a heater control valve that would rust and get stuck and would cause a similar issue an easy fix, but I am not sure how this system works. Am I on the right track here? I would think there is a solenoid that controls a gate on the ac for that side. Is that correct? Is it something that is fairly easy to repair myself, or is a dealer job? If I can repair myself what parts am I looking for and expected cost? Anyone have a link to some photos or write up on the procedure? If it is a dealer job, anyone know what a fair price is for this repair? I need this info, so that I can make a decision on this Jeep or just keep looking. I like everything about this particular truck, I just have this one issue that is making hesitate on this Jeep. We've done hundreds of them at the dealership. There is a TSB that addresses this problem specifically. If it is "ATC" (auto-temperature control) it requires two revised housings (and if actuators have burned out from jammed doors, then those too). The housings replace the originals (which warp and jam) and come with doors installed. If manual temp., it usually requires one housing. The whole dash must be removed to do this. If you call me at work tomorrow I can give you specific part #'s and Chrysler's prices....then you can Google the numbers and buy the parts on the web! Or you can call me at work 800-654-9263. This is the Atc dual temp set up. It seems to be a bit of a daunting task, the idea of removing the dash. I looked up the process on wjjeeps and I am not sure I want to do that myself, but I bet I would save a lot of money doing it myself. I have not bought this Jeep yet, so it might be better to walk away. It is just that this one is very nice outside of this one issue, and appears to be priced right. I plan on running the ac diagnostic on it to make sure this is what the trouble is. It could also, from what I saw last night, just be the actuator motor, which is just behind the glove box and would be an easy fix.
